The smoke swirled around her head as she breathed in another round of nicotine, blowing it out smoothly from her lips. Her eyes were fixated on him, watching as he played guitar. She was wearing nothing but his shirt.

"I didn't know you could play."

Steven shrugged, draping his arm over his guitar, reaching for her lit cigarette. "I'm no Buckingham."

Stevie rolled her eyes. "Fuck him."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

She shook her head. "No, keep playing."

Steven did as told, his fingers strumming and the other hand moving across the fret board. His heart jumped when her tiny hand covered his; faltering his playing.

Stevie's eyes bore in to his, biting down on her bottom lip as she took the guitar away, setting it aside and climbing on his lap. Her hands cradled his face, leaning down to place a kiss against his lips.  Steven's hands gripped her waist, sighing against her mouth. His fingertips brushed under her shirt, feeling her bare skin as his tongue came out to play with hers.

They were pulled away by his phone ringing, sighing in disappointment.

"Ignore it." Stevie replied to the interruption, kissing him more aggressively this time. He nodded against her, the phone eventually stopped ringing. Twisting her head, she gripped the back of his neck, using her other hand to grab his and bring it up to her breast.

His hand had just enclosed around her flesh when his house phone went off again, swearing as he reached for it. "God damn it!"

Steven answered it, less than pleased with who was on the other line. "What?"

Stevie sighed, her head falling on to his shoulder. She planted soft kisses on his neck, listening to him talk.

"Yeah she's with me." He tried to ignore the feeling of her lips on his skin. "Umm, no I'll have her call them, thanks Joe."

"Who was that?"  Stevie asked when he hung up.

Steven ignored her question, his eyes boring in to hers. "Stevie everyone's been looking for you. You have to go back in to the studio."

"No." She shook her head, gripping his shoulders as she sat up. "I will not be around that asshole."

"You guys signed a contract. It's your job, you have to do things you don't like sometimes."

She looked at him offended, instantly climbing off his lap. She stood in front of him, her hands on her hips. "Who's side are you on?"

Steven sighed, standing as well. "I'm on yours Stevie, but you need to go back in to the studio."

She shook her head in disbelief, starting to gather her clothes from off the floor. He sighed once more, watching as she dressed herself hurriedly. "Where are you going?"

   "Home."

"Stevie," he tried to calm her down. "Would you just-

"No Steven!" She cut him off. "If you want to fuck me, or spend a little time with me, that's fine. But I will not sit here and have you tell me what I need to do."

She slammed the front door behind her, Steven tugging at his hair and swearing. "God damn it! Stevie!"

He got up from the couch, quickly following her. She had barely made it off his porch, Steven swearing.

"Stevie you don't even have shoes on!"

"Fuck off!" She yelled over her shoulder, fuming as she walked down his drive way. The gravel dug in to her bare feet, trying to distract herself from the stinging sensation. She felt him behind her, ignoring him.

Steven caught her by the waist, lifting her up and turning her back towards the house.

Stevie gasped surprised, clutching on to his arms. "Put me down this instant!"

Steven ignored her, carrying her back to the house. She fought him, twisting and turning;trying to escape his grasp.

To no avail, Stevie struggled as he put her down in the living room;fuming. She opened her mouth to speak, Steven cutting her off.

"This whole tantrum bullshit isn't going to work with me." His eyes were burning in to hers. "If you want to leave peacefully that's fine, but if you ever pull anything like you just did it'll be the last time you walk through my front door."

Stevie starred at him wordlessly, not knowing how to respond. She felt embarrassed, angry, she wanted to scream at him. But she kept quiet.

"You are more to me than a good fuck Stevie, and I want this to actually go somewhere. I've had enough fighting and unspoken words in my life because of anger. I'm not going to let it happen again."

Stevie felt the stinging sensation of tears; biting the inside of her cheek to keep them from falling. "And why should I believe you?"

"What reason have I given you not to?!" He was frustrated, tugging at his hair.

"You're a man. It's what all men do. You fuck me until you find something better and then I become nothing more than dirt in your eyes."

"That's bullshit."

"That's what they all did, why are you any different?"

"Maybe you haven't realized it, but I'm not Don Henley, and I'm not Lindsey either! I worship the ground you walk on, I'm trying to make you happy Stevie!"

    "Why?"

Steven was taken back by her question, relating to the hurt he saw hidden in her eyes.

"Because, I know what you're going through." He said.

Stevie scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Oh please."

"You're lonely. More lonely than you'd like to admit." She didn't say anything, Steven continuing. "I'm lonely too. I consume my self with booze and pills so I don't have to think about it."

Stevie took a deep breath, she felt as if she were speaking to a mirror. Seeing Steven as the male version of herself.

"With you I don't feel lonely."

Her brown eyes cast upwards to meet his blue ones.

"I don't reach for the bottle or pop another pill when I'm with you. Do you?"

Stevie silently shook her head, Steven nodding his head.

"Good. Do you want to grab something to eat?"

She was speechless, confused by his sudden topic change. "Umm...sure." She agreed, watching him in curiosity.

He approached her, his fingers tangling in her hair and his lips pressing against her forehead. "You're good for me Stevie, and I'm good for you too."
