As the Quagmires and Baudelaires got dressed for the next day of school, the door to the Baudelaire's shack was abruptly opened by none other than Carmelita Spats. "Just a reminder that the school is hosting it's traditional dance at the end of this trimester. Which is like in 3 day." Carmelita said. "Um thanks, Carmelita," Klaus said. "I'm so happy about the theme this year. It's a masquerade ball! That way I don't have to be blinded by your ugliness." Carmelita sassed back. "We're not going to go anyway," Violet said. "You have to. It's mandatory. Cake-sniffers!" Carmelita said as she walked away. "I really don't want to draw any more attention to us than we already have..." Klaus said. "Yeah, but it's mandatory so..." Before Violet could finish her sentence, the door flew open again. "Hello, Baudelaire's!" Isadora said. "Why was Carmelita at your door?" Quigley said. "She was just reminding us of the mandatory masquerade ball," Violet said, blushing a bit as she looked at Quigley. "Yeah, each year they alternate girls ask guys, and guys ask girls. This year, the guys ask the girls." Quigley said, sharing a smile with Violet. "Who are you going to ask?" Isadora said to her older brother. "I have someone in mind..." He replied.
