I woke up to rain pouring from the hole in my roof and next to my bed. When I opened my eyes, a few drops of water were on the bridge of my nose and in between both of my eyes. It was cold in my house. The dishes glared at me from across the room, to where I could see most of the kitchen. As I sat up I looked out my window next to the bed. I could tell it was about 2 o'clock in the morning by the shade of the light outside. You learned to do this at night when sundials don't actually work.

I got up and went to the bathroom straight ahead. My house was somewhat L shaped, the kitchen being the top of the L and the lower part of the L being my main room, where I slept. The bathroom was closed by a door and was next to the kitchen.

When I finished using the bathroom I layed back down on my back, covered up in my bright red sheets, and shut my eyes. My eyelids instantly flew open, and from that moment I knew I was going to be awake for a while.

Some time has passed, and I was still wide awake. Normally I'd be out like a light at this time, but today was different. I had all the energy in the world, and too much to do to fall asleep. I decided to finally get up and do my dishes before they got largely out of hand.

I didn't turn on the light as I went to the kitchen, it tends to disturb the neighbors. My dishes were dirty by the dozens, there was a lot to do and a lot of time to do them.

At this moment I saw some sort of flash for a split second. It reflected off of a special pan my mom had years ago in which I had in my hand. I looked up and nothing was there, so I thought nothing of it. A minute passed, and I hadn't thought of it at the time but come to think of it, there was no thunder. I had assumed it was lightning, but I guess not. Maybe someone was walking behind my house with a flashlight, but once again my ears had deceived me; there were no footsteps.

Just as I was thinking of the possibilities I had finished all the dishes. I hadn't seen the bottom of my sink for weeks, and finally my home was in presentable appearance.

I layed back down in my bed, once again on my back, to were I could see a small portion of the raining night sky. I blinked a few times, I was beginning to finally get tired. The clouds were raining more than ever which caused me to look through the hole more than usual, making sure I didn't get wet.

Just as I had glanced up one last time for the night, I saw it: the flash. I didn't blink, I wanted to see what would happen after the flash went away. Oddly enough, I actually saw something.

It was an eye, as plain as day ironically. The shade of this eye was brown, although not apparent. It looked more grey because of the clouds than anything, however the shape proposed was clear which made it an unmistakable eye. It wasn't looking at me, it was looking around. One house, then another, then finally onto mine. It looked like it was staring right at me, and it fixated on me the longest. Then it faded away over the span of a second.

This kept me up for the rest of the night. Could it be one of the creatures from The Forest? No one has actually seen one, but to any of our knowledge they have never even stepped foot in the village. But it got me wondering: could it have seen me? I felt like that would be impossible because of the size of the hole, but it was perfectly centered inside the hole, almost as if it wanted me to see it.

Morning had finally came, and I had only gotten 4 hours of sleep. I felt like I wanted to just sleep for the rest of the day, but I had responsibilities to fulfill. First a survival class, then finally my final self defense class for the day. I had stood up, and dressed for the day ahead.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed. This chapter is kind of short but it will be important to remember in the up and coming chapters I have planned.

P.S. If you wanted further detail as to what Lloyd's home looked like I drew a picture. If you want you could replicate my drawing into a computer animated blueprint because I am not a professional, nor do I have a computer haha. Don't worry, I will give you credit in the chapter and in the summary of the book if you do this. :D
