"Why exactly are we in the woods?" Skye asked as she marched through the forest behind Marcus, or Zoro, or whatever his name was.
"You want to see your parents, right?" Zoro asked.
"Yes, but why aren't we going to some weird rocket or whatever you use to get from place to place in space."
"That's what we're doing," Zoro said as he pulled back a large, bushy tree branch, revealing a massive rocket in. It was the same size and the same design as the one she had seen in the woods earlier, except now she could see some smaller details. There were multiple doors, about three to be exact, and six side windows. On the bottom was a small engraving reading Zoro Starlight, Year 7561. Zoey gently placed her hand over the small lettering, each word about the size of her palm.
"I've seen this rocket, when I first met you," She turned to him. "Year 7561? It's only 2521 here."
"Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. We started counting our years long before Earthlings did." Skye turned back to the rocket. "When did you get this?"
"About five years ago, but I would rather the latest model," Skye raised her eyebrows and he chuckled. "Why don't we get going then?" The largest door on the rocket opened up. "Come on in he said as he walked in. Skye slowly followed him, still with an unsettling feeling. "Took me forever, but I finally fixed it up!" She didn't say anything, justs looked around in awe. Scientists have been working for hundreds of years to get rockets good enough to travel people through space, when aliens seemed to have this technology for years. Skye sat down on a what seemed to be leather cushion stationed onto the ground. She ran her fingers along the slick material. Zoro sat down in what seemed to be a diver's seat, though it appeared to be far off from it. Instead of a wheel, the dashboard in front of the plush chair had hundreds of flashing lights and levers. When they were flicked or activated, miniature holograms would appear upwards with different conditions to fix up. She squinted at the area around her, not trusting the situation she was putting herself into. She reached into her bag and popped a stick of mint flavored gum into her mouth. She stuck her baseball cap onto her head just before her eyes started the widen.
"Hey, uhm, what do I do about my Aunt? I don't really think she'll be okay with me running away with a random stranger into space. Y'know, just a thought," Skye said, throwing her bag down on the floor and spreading out on the plush beige couch.
"I think she'll be okay with it," Zoro said, paying attention to the miniature holograms. Skye began to hear a fluttering sound come from the outside. She hopped up hastily and ran over to the window. The engine started rumbling, and the floor of the rocket started to shake. "I would suggest you sit in an actual chair, at least for take off," Zoro said, still staring at the miniature holograms and many buttons on the panel. Skye stood up and gently sat down in the seat next to him, and it started to spin around. "Seatbelt secure," just then, a seatbelt flew onto her, strapping her to the seat. Zoro pushed a lever forward very slowly and the entire rocket started to shake. "You ready?" Before Skye could answer, Zoro gently pushed a small button and the rocket went shooting upward. They were moving so quickly, Skye was stuck against her seat, unable to move. All Skye could see now were bright lights out of the windows, which she assumed were the stars. Zoro seemed unfazed and Skye could tell he'd done this multiple times.
Skye was getting used to the rocket and was able to move around a bit. She started spinning around in her chair. The roar of the engine started to quiet down, and Skye realized that the news was on, or at least Neptune's version of the news. There was a little hologram of a young woman with curly light brown hair pulled back, half of it pulled up on the top of her head. She was wearing a tight deep blue dress and and very tall heels. She looked like a regular news reporter, but ten times as fancy. There was a very serious look on her face, and her voice was deep with a slight accent. Zoro simply turned a small dial and the hologram twice as big and the volume went up. Skye noticed started to notice something off about her. Her eyes. They were ruby red, with glare coming from a light above. Her serious face started to look almost too serious. Her posture began to look too straight. There atmosphere all of a sudden didn't seem so welcoming.
