Rachel made me close my eyes as she pulled the car into wherever we were going.
"You can't open your eyes until I tell you to, okay?" She said, giggling.
"Alright, alright, I'm just nervous!"
"Nervous about what, Luna? You're gonna have so much fun, love! I promise!"
I heard Rachel turn the car off and get out of her seat. I kept my eyes closed like I said I would. She came around and opened my car door, and took my hand, leading me out.
"Alright, don't get too excited by the way" I could imagine Rachel giving one of her famous eye rolls as she said this.
She took my hand and placed a small slip of paper in it.
"Ok, you can open your eyes now!"
I opened my eyes to see a ticket to a Verbatim concert. My jaw dropped.
"You're joking right? I swear to god Rachel if this is some kind of joke I'm gonna–"
"Chill out, it's not a joke! You're welcome by the wayyy."
I honestly was speechless, Rachel knew that I'd been wanting to see Verbatim ever since I was taken into the institution. My little brother was the guitarist, and they'd been getting popular while I've been stuck in a hospital.
"They have their own shows now? Rachel, this is insane, thank you so much!"
She laughed and smiled, "I know how much you've wanted to see your little bro play, plus I got a discount on the tickets, so don't worry about money. Wait come here, I got you something else."
I took a step closer towards Rachel and she handed me a little jewelry box. I opened it and found a gorgeous diamond incrusted gold tennis bracelet, and anklet to match. I was honestly so overwhelmed, I almost broke down in tears on the spot.
"Oh my god Rachel.. You didn't have to.."
"Trust me, I know I didn't. But I wanted you to have something special, and I know diamond is your birthstone. I got matching ones for me in Emerald, see look!" She said as she showed me her twinkling jewelry she had on. I honestly hadn't noticed them before, but that was because Rachel always had on extravagant and expensive jewelry. Sometimes she looked like a walking treasure chest.
"Well thank you Rachel, that was really sweet of you, I love them," I said, taking them out of the box and putting them on.
"Yeah yeah, now come on, we gotta get inside before everyone else!"
We hurried inside, giving some big buff dude our tickets. He ripped them into two pieces, handed Rachel back hers and handed mine back as well, keeping his hand touching mine for a little longer than I was comfortable with. His grey eyes looked me over, from head to toe, a small devilish glint shimmering. I felt a weird feeling rush through my body as we took a couple steps forward.
"That was weird," I said to Rachel as we walked into the building.
"What was?"
"Just that guy was being weird, never mind."
I said, shaking it out of my head. I was probably just thinking too much into it, it's been awhile since I've had human contact from someone other than grumpy doctors, nurses, and occasionally Rachel.
We went up a small flight of stairs and made it into a huge room they were to perform in. No one was there except for people setting up the stage and setting up the shop, bar, and cafe. I looked around confused.
