"Mm," I mumble trying to leave the kiss, "Betts."Our tutoring session quickly turned to us kissing after I put a hand on Betty's thigh. She was a lot feistier than she looked.
"Hm?" she questions, still holding my face.
"Betty." I say between a kiss, holding her arm and pulling away gently. I laugh at her swollen lips once we separate.
"I just want to tell you that I'm not.. gonna force you into doing anything. Don't feel pressured to do things you're not ready for just because of me, okay?" I say, just in case she was doing this more-so to please me.
"I won't." she smiles.
"Okay good. Then we're all set." I say, slowly moving closer before putting a finger under her chin, bringing her back in for a kiss.
"Elizabe-" The voice makes Betty and I turn our faces immediately.
"Mom!" Betty says shooting up, fixing her sweater.
"What on earth is happening in here?" Her mom says angrily.
"We-I-i" Betty stutters.
I stand up to help, "Hi, Mrs. Cooper. I'm Jughead Jones." I smile, reaching a hand out to shake.
She eyes me viciously, shaking my hand. "So Jughead, why are your lips on my daughters?"
"Well," I look to Betty in question.
"He's my boyfriend, mom." Betty says with annunciation.
"Boyfr- Betty? I told you to stay away from him but instead you go ahead and date him? Is this in spite of me?"
"No!" she shakes her head. "I like him, mom. You can't change that. He's kind and caring, he isn't what you think of serpents."
She inhales deeply. "Well, he seems... good." she looks me up and down, making me uncomfortable. "Alright, Elizabeth, but there will be no funny business in my house."
Betty raises her eyebrows as if in shock. "I- Okay! Thank you!" she smiles, hugging her mother.
"And you." she says after the hug, pointing at me, "Appropriate. No pressuring her."
"I know, Mrs. Cooper. I won't. I don't." I stutter in fear of the intense woman.
"Alright." she says tentatively. "I'm closing the door now." she says as she walks out, slowly closing the door behind her.
Once the door shuts, Betty lets out a heavy breath. "Oh my god, I am so sorry. I should've told you that I didn't tell her, I just didn't want her to judge you or make you uncomfortab-"
"Hey." I stop her rant, putting hands on her shoulders. "It's fine. I survived." I smile.
She chuckles before bringing me into a hug.

At 8 p.m, Jughead and FP's Trailer (FP is at the Whyte Wyrm so Jughead is alone.)
"Who the hell?" I say at the knock at the door.
I open it up to find Betty, now in shorts and a t-shirt with her hair open.
"Betts, what are you doing here?" I wonder. "You shouldn't be here, all the serpents live on these grounds."
"I wanted to see your traile-" she tries to step in but I put a hand out.
"No, you need to go."
"Hey Jones! Who's you're little friend?" Yells a serpent from behind Betty, scanning her up and down and licking his lips.
I yell back, "How 'bout you mind your own business, asshole! Don't even lay an eye on her."
He puts his hands up in defeat, walking away.
"See what I mean, you have to go." I press. "Someone like you can't be here."
She frowns, "Someone like me?"
I rub my eyes, "No, I-I didn't mean that in an offensive way."
"You mean a dainty little princess, don't you. I'm capable of handling myself."
"Betty.."
"Or is it because I'm a Northsider? Don't want to embarrass yourself in front of your serpent-buddies?"
"Betty. It's not like that, I'm trying to keep you safe."
"I don't need you to try to do anything. I came here knowing the risks, I'm not a baby." she shouts.
"What the hell are you getting so upset for!" I raise my voice slightly.
"I'm trying to learn about you, you know all about me." she pleas in response.
"I. Don't. Want. You to learn this side of me." I blurt out.
"Side? What side?"
"I'm a serpent, Betty! That's the harsh reality and I can't change it. So stop arguing with me when I'm doing what's best for you. You cannot be here!"
"I'll be wherever I want." she says sternly while she crosses her arms in defense.
"God, maybe you're mom was right. One day into dating and you're already sneaking out of the house and show up on the Southside."
She scoffs, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means maybe it's best if you find a boyfriend on the Northside, a good kid."
Her mood shifts from angry to upset. "What? No, Jug, you are good." She reaches out for my cheeks.
I move back. "Not for you." I shake my head.
"Hey, Jug!" Toni waves with a smile.
"Oh." Betty's face drops. "So that's why you want me to leave."
I'm confused for a moment before I catch up with her assumption. "No. No, Betty, no. I swear."
"Yeah, alright. Have fun with pinkie over there." Her eyes are watery and my whole body aches at the sight.
"Betty, no, I promise!"
"Have fun with him!" Betty says, walking past Toni and entering her car.
Toni walks up my steps. "Is that your girlfriend? Betty? The one you haven't shut up about for weeks?" she laughs.
"Yeah. And now she thinks I'm cheating on her."
Toni scoffs, "Cheating on her? Ha, with who-" she widens her eyes in realization. "Shit, I'm sorry."
"I- I was being a dick anyways. It's okay, I'll fix it."
