Kabanata 6
Reason
“I resent these stupid accusations! I did not steal anything! I was going to pay everything I bought!” naabutan kong usal ni Vivien.
“Miss, all your credit cards are declined and blocked, it is even reported stolen. Marami kang binili at kahit cash ay wala kang maibigay-”
“Oh, this is bull-”
Vivien looked at me and she was slightly relieved when she saw me.
“Macy, tell them, hindi ako magnanakaw. Tell them that my family is really loaded. Why the hell would I steal?
I eyed her seriously. She is making things a lot worse.
Hindi ko alam anong nangyari at bakit nablock ang credit cards niya, and being reported stolen for that matter. But I believe Vivien, hindi siya magnanakaw, I know my friend. This is just a cheap accusation.
“This is all a misunderstanding, my friend would never-”
“Are you her lawyer?” one police man interrupted me.
I sighed.
“Then I advise that you find one for your friend immediately, if she doesn’t want to stay the night,” the policeman said cockily and left the both of us to speak to the manager.
Vivien rolled her eyes at him and groaned. “This has got to be the worst day ever. Nakakahiya, Macy. I think some even took pictures of me while I’m being dragged out of my will!”
I took my phone out and dialled Rick’s number. Isn’t this nice? I sighed.
“Bakit ba kasi hindi gumana credit cards mo?”
“Well, Macy, my guess is that my loving and caring parents blocked all three of it,” she said with a voice full of sarcasm.
“Why?”
She grunted and I can sense her frustration. “Uhm, that’s not important, Macy.”
Well, it is, as a matter of fact, important. Her parents won’t block her credit cards just because they feel like it. Right?
I knew it.
Wala pa ring sagot galing kay Rick kahit nagriring iyon and I’m starting to think na magiging istorbo lang kami kahit sagutin niya. He’s a successful lawyer now and he might be busy with a case at the moment for all we know.
