Chapter 13

We had just arrived at my house and no one has said anything to me since the incident.

"Okay can you guys just say something already." I said. I know that they are trying to be nice and everything but the tension is killing me.

"Well what do you want us to say Lisa? You can't exactly go back to having a normal conversation after you find out that you're best friend was cheated on." Kat replied. I knew she was right, you can't just move on from something like that so quickly.

"Hey guys, sorry but my mom just texted me and she said she's outside waiting for me." Maxine said

"Okay bye Max." Kat said. We were sitting there until Maxine left. Kat got up and sat in front of me so we could make eye contact but I was looking at the ground when she started to talk.

"Lisa, you don't always have to be so strong. I am here for you. Things like this happen. You'll get over it soon, trust me." Her words made me feel as if I was going to cry.

"I can't say that I know what you're going through because I don't. But this is just a thing. Love sucks I know but you don't have to hold anything in anymore. Sorry I'm not the best at this." I laughed a little at that. I still wasn't looking at her but I could tell by her tone that she really did mean everything she was saying.

"I love you Lisa you're like a sister to me." At this point I looked up at her and leaned over and hugged her tight. I was crying and hugging her at the same time. I'm pretty sure I soaked her sleeve but that was okay.

"I don't understand why it hurts so much. I should be mad at him but instead I'm mad at myself for not seeing this coming." I say in between sobs.

"It's okay your first break up is always the hardest." I pulled away from the hug and looked at her.

"When did you become so wise." I said. She laughed and we just sat on the couch watching TV avoiding the subject for the rest of the night.

It was around 7 p.m. and Kat was still here.

"Hey Lisa do you mind if I stay the night?"

"No that's fine, my mom probably won't mind either."

"Cool thanks."

*ding dong*

"I'll get it!" Kat yelled from the kitchen. "Maxine probably forgot something." I nodded as she walked towards the door. I heard someone speak as Kat opened the door.

"Kat, where's Lisa?"

Oh gosh. It's Nash.

"Why?"

"Because I need to talk to her."

"Oh no you don't. You need to turn around and go back to where you came from. Bye now."

"Wait!" I was now walking toward the hallway leading to the front door and I was watching them as they argued.

"What Nash!"

"I need to explain to her please just-"

"You hurt my best friend. You cheated Nash! Do you understand what that means?! Then you have the nerve to come here to her house and say you want to explain! Do you honestly think that she would want to talk to you?"

"I-" Kat cut him off.

"I'll answer that for you. No! So why don't you get your a-"

"He can come in." I cut Kat off to say that!? That was not what I had expected to say, I thought I would go off on Nash. I mean I was pissed at him for what he did, but there's no taking anything back now.

Nash walked in and followed me upstairs. We went in to my bedroom and sat on my bed facing eachother.

"Lisa I-"

"What Nash? What excuse could you possibly make up?"

"You see-"

"What? Did she fall onto your lips? Because news flash, you guys were sitting down."

"No it's not like that-"

"Then what is it like Nash! Because any explanation you have isn't good enough. There is no excuse in the world that will make this okay." After I said that I felt so much better but Nash looked...hurt.

"You're right."

"What?"

"You're right. I don't have a good reason why I did what I did. Im sorry I bothered you."

And with that said, Nash got off the bed, walked down the stairs, and out the door. I just stood at the top of the stairs looking confused.
