Flashback:

It was finally Fall. The trees were full of orange and red leaves that fell gently to the ground. There was a slight breeze that made the trees look as if they were dancing.

It was also the start of school. First grade, for little Keith Kogane. Needless to say, he was scared. He had just moved from Texas to Missouri and had to say goodbye to his friends from Kindergarten and below.

"Mom, do I have to go? I can just be homeschooled! That's what Shiro did when he was in elementary school," The jet-black haired boy pleaded.

"That's because he was able to learn better at home instead of going on with the class." His mother explained gently. "I promise you'll love it here!" Keith pouted, looking away as they approached the big building. He looked up at it. This is where he would be spending 4 years in.

"Ready?" Krolia asked her son, smiling. Keith 'humphed' and shrugged.

"Have a wonderful day, sweetie!" She called as he walked inside. He didn't bother replying. He saw a bunch of students chatting with one another in the cafetorium. He walked in, assuming that was where he was supposed to go. He walked over to where he saw his teacher and, presumably, his classmates. He shyly sat down, away from all the other kids.

"They already have friends. That's just great." He muttered under his breath.

Little did he know, another boy was looking at him. He had brown hair, dark, freckled skin, and small blue irises.

He slowly slid over to where Keith was. "Hi, there!" the boy suddenly exclaimed. Keith jumped a bit and looked over at him.

"H-hi," He answered, shyly. The other boy grinned.

"Haven't seen you before, are you new?" he asked. Keith nodded. "I'm Lance. What's your name?"

"Uhm, Keith," The dark-haired boy gulped.

"That's a nice name. Wanna be friends?" Lance asked easily. Keith gave a him a big smile.

"Ok!"

Present: Keith POV

I trudged along the path to the main building of the university. Today was my first day of college and I was pretty scared. This reminds me about the first time I moved here, then had to move away, and then I moved back here again. Yeah, pretty confusing.

I finally got to the front steps and saw a few students wandering around, and the occasional couple chatting.

I suddenly felt a vibration in my pocket. Taking out my phone, I peered at who was texting me at this time.

Shiro-the-Hero: Hey Keef

Keith_K: I told you not to call me that

Shiro-the-Hero: OwO

I rolled my eyes at my brother's childish messages.

Keith_K: Bye weirdo

Shiro-the-Hero: Buh bye lil bro

I shoved my phone into my pocket and hurried inside. I needed food. Noticing that the line for food was super long, I sighed and trudged over to the Starbucks that was inside.

After grabbing a frappacino, I walked over to the courtyard and sat down at a table.

Just then, I heard someone call a familiar name. Lance.

As in Lance McClain? My best friend from 7 years ago? No way.

Oh, but, yes way. As soon as I turned around, I saw an older version of the blue-eyed boy that I've always known. He had a big goofy smile plastered on his face and was running towards the person who called his name.

"L-Lan-" I tried to call him, but he was already at the table. Couldn't get his attention. I sighed and stood up from my seat, adjusting the beanie set atop my head. Grabbing my coffee, I made my way over to the Cuban boy.

Once I reached him, I placed my hand on his shoulder and smiled.

"Hey, Lance!"
