Enjoy....Hajara's POV
"Grandma! Grandma!" i screamed as i run into the house through the backdoor.
The smell of my grandma's miyan taushe made me reduce my pace and I smiled as i reminisced the days my grandma used to cajole me into eating miyan taushe and tou zaafi as i grew up.
"Anuwula maa" i greeted her in our local dialect Dagbanli. "Naa" she responded. " How's my grandchild doing?" my grandma asked?"im fine but tired, school was hectic and i had to do a lot of reading after school since our final exams is near."
"O Yaa Allah" my grandma exhaled, it shall be ok In Sha Allah. "Go and take your bath and pray so that we can have dinner " said my grandma as she patted my back.I hurriedly run into my room, took my bath and said my prayers.
Just as i said my salaam, the azan was called for Isha prayers so i decided to pray that one as well before joining my grandma in the dining hall.
I took of my hijab and abaya and wore my mickey mouse top and pajama trousers, untied my hair from its tight bun and wore my flopps as i made my way to the dining hall to eat.
Dinner was already served by my grandma .
We ate in silence and i helped her do the dishes.
After saying our salaams to each other we entered our respective rooms. Sleep took me as soon as i lay my head on the bed.☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀
Today is a Saturday, that means there's no school.
I woke up as early as 4:00am after praying, i did my laundry and my grandmas own.
The organisation that funded my education was having its annual mentorship program and as a beneficiary i had no option but to attend it.
Before taking my bath, i skipped to my grandma's room with my invisible rope.
Grandma was watching television when i entered her room.
After greeting her, i asked for her phone since i didn't have one. I called Hanna my best friend who was also in the scholarship scheme.
Hanna normally takes long when dressing up so i had to remind her to be fast so that we don't get late for the program. After taking my bath, i put on a pencil skirt and a long sleeves crop top.
I tied my hair into a bun trying to make the little strands around the edges neat.
After i put on a little powder on my face and a nude lipstick. I tied my hijab and wore my denim jacket and sandals.
Taking my purse from the bed, i went to the kitchen to take some water since i had already taken my breakfast earlier own in the day.
I bid my grandma good bye and left the house expecting to meet Hanan at the program.
Luckily for me i got a bus right in front of my house.Miyan taushe... A soup made from dried baobab leaves and okro or okra
Tou zaafi.... A pudding like food made with corn flour and sometimes together with cassava flour taken with soup.Tou shinkafa... A pudding like food made with rice flour or sometimes rice itself taken with soup.
