Colt Ridge Academy

Chapter One

"AHHHH MOM ITS HERE!" I screamed as I opened the envelope that contained my letter from "Colt Ridge Academy".

"So? Did you get in?" She said nervously. I opened up the letter and I screamed.

"I GOT IN!" I yelled jumping up and down. I got accepted to one of the best riding academy's ever! It's in Lexington, Kentucky which isn't far from where I live!

"Oh honey that's great!" She said hugging me.

"I'm going to go pack!" I said before I took off up the stairs. I got out my suitcase and opened it. I grabbed a bunch of clothes and shoved them in my suitcase.

"Tomorrow is the big day! Are you excited roommate?" I said screaming in the phone to my best friend Jenna.

"YES! Wait... OH MY GOSH you got in?!?!?!? CONGRATS!" she said screaming over the phone basically busting my ear drum.

"Yes! So have you packed yet?" I asked her.

"Yep just got done!" She exclaimed.

"Me too!" I shrieked with excitement.

"I can't wait!" I yelled to her.

"ME TOO!" I screamed as my voice cracked. Me and Jenna spent the rest of the night talking on the phone about what to wear tomorrow and were we are going to meet up.

"Well we better get to bed! We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow!" I said before forcefully zipping my suitcase up.

"Your right! Ekkkkk! She shrieked before we said our goodbyes and hung up. I got ready for bed, then said goodnight to parents and got into bed.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock going beep beep beep beep! I rolled over and turned it off.

"Today is the day!" I said cheerfully. I got my favorite tank top on. (The one with the purple elephant design on it), my ripped jeans, and my orange boots. I went downstairs to see if my mom and dad are up yet.

"Good morning honey!" My mom and dad said hugging me. " We made you breakfast!" They said holding out a plate.

"Wow thanks guys!" I told them grabbing the plate. I ate the yummy breakfast then went upstairs to get my bags.

As I lugged my heavy bags behind me down the stairs I petted my doberman named Jaxx. Then I went out the door and threw them in the back of the car.

"All set!" I said to my parents as I hopped in the car.

"Ok! Are you sure you have everything?" she asked.

"Yep!" I said cheerfully. We pulled out of the driveway as I waved at Jazz through the window.

It's a 1 hour drive up to Lexington. So to make to the time pass I decided to watch a movie and text Jenna.

Jenna: Hey new roommate!!!:)

Me: Hey! Are you excited?

Jenna: duhhhh lol:)

Me: ME TOO!!!

Jenna: IKR!;)

Me: I hope our dorm has a good view of the stables!

Jenna: OMG that would be awesome!

Me: IKR!:D

Jenna and I just kept texting until we got there. I also watched black beauty on the way up there.

When we pulled up the driveway all I could see was lots and lots of horses. There was lots of dorms, and stables!

I got my stuff out of the car and hugged my parents.

"I'll see you at spring break!" I told them.

"We love you sweetie! Have fun and make new friends!" My mom said speaking for both of them.

"Do you need help carrying your bags?" My dad asked.

"Nope I think I can get them!" I told them sounding confident.

I waved goodbye to my parents as they pulled out of the parking lot. Then I headed to my dorm.

"Hello I'm Maggie! What dorm will you be staying in?" asked a girl from the front desk.

"Um.... D45" I told her.

"Ok! Here's your key! Looks like your roommate Jenna has already checked in!" She said handing me a key to the dorm.

"Thank you!" I said before I got on the elevator.

I walked to the dorm D45 then opened the door.

"YOUR HERE!" Jenna squealed.

"HI!" I screamed hugging her.

"Are you done unpacking?" I said unzipping my suitcase.

"Yep! you need help?" She asked.

"Sure" I said as I started to place my clothes in a drawer. We finished unpacking my bag and I slid it under my bed.

"Hey you wanna go to the café?" she said.

"Sure!" I said. We walked to the café that surprisingly isn't far from our dorm.

As we walked in a bright eyed and bushy tailed looking girl, who I'm thinking is our waiter, approached us.

"Please take a seat!" She said motioning us to a booth.

"Now what can I get you girls?" She said pulling out a pad of paper.

"I'll have a berry blast!" Jenna said.

"I'll have a berry blast also!" I said looking a Jenna and laughing.

"Ok 2 berry blast coming right up!" The waiter said before walking off.

A few minutes later she came out with our smoothies.

"Here you go!" She said handing them to us.

"Thank you!" we both said before taking a sip.

"Wow! These are delicious!" I told Jenna.

"I know right!" She said back.

"You know, I think I'm going to like it here!" I told her.

"Me too" she squealed. A few minutes later the waitress came back with the receipt. We gave her our student cards to pay for the smoothies. She took them and swiped them on the cash register.

"Here you go!" she said handing back our cards. We said thank you and then headed out the door.

"I want to go check out the stables!" I told Jenna.

"Me too! Let's go!" She said before taking off towards the stables. As we entered we saw so many beautiful horses.

"Do you think these are the colts we have to train?" Jenna asked me.

"I don't know well just have to wait and see..." I said as I went around petting all of the horses. When we got done we explored some more then headed up to our dorm to get ready for bed.

"We better get to sleep! We have a big day tomorrow!" Jenna said while we were brushing our teeth.

"Yes we do!" I said back. I put my hair in a messy bun and then put on my pajamas. We both got into bed and said goodnight.

"Sleep right roommate!" Jenna said laughing before falling asleep.

"You to roommate.... You too." I said giggling before I drifted to sleep.
