Another day at school has never been as tedious as ever, mostly if your history teacher is an old woman who is going to retire very soon. Very well then, no shocker here that ninety percent of the class use this as a chance to doze off. The weird part of all this is she still gives us all an equal passing grade of! Even to Andrew--the school's annoying kid--and his crew who dare to say "Hey Mrs. V, just gonna catch on some Zs if you don't mind!" with a sneaky smirk.
For once I decided to do the same hoping all the stresses I have concerning life altogether would evanesce. Since this class was technically a review of last year's and I was sure I'd still get an excellent score on finals.
I picked up my history book and slept behind it...
And with that, the bell rings with a ferocity telling me not to back down just yet.
Waking up with a start, I noticed the class was already empty and to be honest I don't know if it was my senses or if the classroom décor was actually different. Ignoring my books and stuff, I ran up to study the room and looked out the door to witness the school hallway's incredibly quiet and emptiness. I walked out the room and into the dusty and gloomy hallways.
"Hello? Mrs. V are you here? Anyone?"
No answers.
I couldn't believe my eyes, the atrocious quality of the school made it look like a place you would expect to see in a horror movie. Running to the main door of the austere school I wanted to escape but as soon as I opened the door of the main entrance, my attention was caught to the deep gap between the door and the parking lot and observed that apparently, the land where the school stood was an island of its own.
'What happened?' was my first thought
I managed to jump off safely on a nearby tree from the fourth floor, however, this situation was inevitable. To my disappointment, not only the school, but even the town was apparently abandoned, for what looks like years.
No people, no animals, and barely even any plants.
Not a sign of life anywhere!
I glanced at my watch and was surprised to see it was 5:00 pm
I grabbed what looked like a bike but you couldn't tell anymore since it looked more like a gum wrapper that has been thrown in the trash.
As I tried to process all of this new information my instincts told me to go home. I walked the lonely and dreadful path slowly grimacing at the horrible landscape as it got uglier and uglier as I neared my house.
The only problem was, where my house once stood, the only thing that was left was debris and burned wood as if an explosion occurred exactly on the spot.
I shrivel up into a ball and began my weeping, what was I suppose to do?
How do I get out?
'Crying won't help' I thought to myself
My only hope was to the forest I visited and cherished so much. With determination, I got up and darted to my beloved forest, only to find another dissatisfaction.
The trees were all grey and dead, no longer any leaves, and all of them bent to their left. Another piece of evidence to some type of explosion. The grass was also in a grave result, Gray and lifeless.
Everywhere I traveled was gray, black, and white like an old film. The place was cloudy with just a light cool wind.
I suddenly heard a suffocating barking sound, I turned to see and a strange humanoid figure stared with a heaving chest. It slowly began to near me like a zombie and its long bony arms and fingers stretched out to reach me.
I naturally broke into a sprint, unfortunately running was no use and it clawed my ankle deep, Now limping focused on my pain I forget about the weird geography of the town. I slipped on a solid rock and felt my world spin.
Before I fell I opened my eyes quickly and below me lay my fate . . . Another gap with a bed of rocks as sharp as a Doberman's teeth smiled to greet my skin.
I saw the silhouette of the creature on the edge getting smaller and smaller. I finally gazed into the gray sky, now a bright white and like a film, my memories flew back in time.
Unanticipatedly I felt a piercing pain in the middle of my back, I felt like my spine has broken in half. I screamed, screeched, yelled, cried, and wailed In pain but no one came to aid me.
A whisper in the background, a demonic entity of a woman tone said: "Welcome home, darling. . ."
I could hear my heart beat strong and fast like in those drama shows until
my suffering was done. . .
