She stood there, hand out holding two roses. The roses, one yellow and the other red with stems blackened by her touch. He had his back turned, head bowed, ignoring her. A creature stood next to her, fidgeting. It lurches forward, startling him. He turns around, eyes widened with surprise and then shock as he takes in the creature.
Its horse-like head featured fangs as long as his forearm coming from the skull. Six nostrils each pair smaller than the other formed its nose. Two pairs of eyes glowed red like the fires of hell. Antlers the size of a small boy were protruding from the forehead. A mane of hair drifted downs its elongated neck, accompanied by spines along the ridge of the neck, flowing down the back to its tail like a spine. Wings half opened growing from its shoulder blades. Two pairs of forelegs tap dancing on the spot, cloven hooves, covered by feathering, engraving the ground with every step.
He stepped forward studying the creature. Hand outstretched he stroked its head studying its closer. Running his hands over the fur that felt like greasy and corse as it was covered in ash, masking its natural colour and feel. It stepped into him enjoying the attention it was receiving. He started humming sweetly to the creature, lulling it into sleep. He smiled eyes sparkling with a fondness for the animal that had such fierce look and reputation.
"She's yours" She spoke softly. Her powerful voice turned soft. He stared, eyes wide at her. This is the first, and probably only gift she was ever going to give him. He was always sending gifts to her. It was his job as Life, and her job, as Death, to take them. "Her name's Uttara. She's a gift from me to you. To show how much I love you" Death looked down, shying away almost. Life stood away from the creature, much to its disapproval, and hugged her. Stepping back he kissed her forehead and stood back sheepishly grinning like the Cheshire cat he gave her a couple of months ago.
Turning around he leads Uttara away, a bittersweet feeling envelopes him like clouds on a mountain. A tear full of euphoria and sorrow slid from his eye. Uttara's tail quickly swiped it up and spread it over her fur. The ash and soot vanished like smoke in the air and she becomes brilliant shades of blues, purples and reds. She lets out a low reverberated growl from deep in her chest which turned into a roar of jubilation as she was cleaned.
A/N: This is just something I came up with. It might be the only one here. Please tell me what you think about it.
