He remembers watching her, from across the corridor, watching her beautiful long red hair fall back over her waist when she throws her head back in laughter. He remembers the sound, like music in his soul. He remembers fear rising and falling. He remembers the feeling, that weird feeling in his chest, like butterflies fluttering from his stomach upwards. He remembers looking at himself and shaking his head, walking to class.
Theo sits, right at the back of the classroom, away from everyone. His eyes flash from his textbook to his workbook, where he's learning about the history of each element. Basically where each elemental power came from and all that other boring stuff.
Theo is schooled at the Official Elemental Academy, where teenagers get educated about they're powers. Usually in the forms of elements, such as fire, water, earth, air, ice, ether and so on. He doesnt hate it there, he supposes, but damn some of the people are annoying.
People generally leave him alone, because hes the 'weird kid.' Theo kind of keeps to himself and doesn't really talk to anyone, so that makes him strange to most people. He has white blonde hair that covers his deep, icy blue eyes. His skin is so pale it almost looks ghost-like. He's tall, but somehow still not noticed amongst people.
Azarlea though, is popular and liked by loads of the schools population, not that she particularly cares. She has a knack for walking by Theo without noticing, as she's too busy wrapped in her literal down to earth boyfriend, Kenneth. He's tall, and broard, not to mension popular, for being on the football and basketball team here at OEA. Marissa, Azarlea's best friend is short, with blond hair and a constant Resting Bitch Face.
As Theo continues doing his work, flicking his eyes back and forth, the classroom door slams open. The teacher looks at the door scowling. She rolls her eyes when Azarlea walks in.
"Why are you late Azarlea?" She asks, looking down at her watch.
"Sorry! Sorry I was up late last night studying!" That of course, is a lie. She was actually up in Kenny's bed. She almost smirks at the thought.
"Well go take your seat!" Looking around, Azarlea notices the seat next to Marissa is taken, by Ashley. She walks over to the desk.
"Hey Ashley, your seat is back there." She points at the desk next to Theo. Ashley, glaring at the redhead in front of her, slowly picks up her things. Ashley has dark hair and would be pretty, if it weren't for the insane amount of makeup and the constant facial expression that dirt is always under her nose. She has grey eyes and sharp cheekbones.
"Azarlea hurry up and move to the seat at the back!" Mrs Loft snaps. She snaps her head around with a filthy look on her face, before walking toward the desk.
"Okay!" The teacher exclaims. "As I was saying before I was so rudely interupted! We're doing a partner activity."
Oh lord help me, Theo thinks.
Oh yay! Is what goes through Azarlea's head. I can work with Marissa!
"Your partners are sitting next to you. You have a week to complete a 10 page essay on the history of each elemental power, I suggest you meet up after school as well. I'll hand out the task sheets then your free to begin." Mrs Loft says, walking around with the papers.
Azarlea and Theo look at each other, she rolling her eyes and he looking back down at the desk.
"So uh do you know much about this subject?" She asks him. He just looks at her weirdly and shrugs.
"Whats your element?" He ignores her, continuing to look straight. "Alright then. Mines fire. My spirit animal is a kitsune."
He nods. When the teacher hands them a sheet each, he looks down at the text and loses focus of her words completely. When she notices, she rolls her eyes and looks down at her phone.
Azarlea turns to look at Theo. "This isn't the case where one of us does all the work alright?"
Theo nods his head, getting back to his text book. By the end of class, they'd already planned out the first 3 sub-headings. Or Theo did.
"Um I'll start on like earth okay? Since we've already planned out fire, earth and air. Um are you cool with doing two for now?" Theo nods, before waving goodbye and walking off.
He walks to the courtyard, where he climbs up the giant sycamore tree. He pulls out his history book and opens it, reading each word carefully. Each element has a spirit animal, like the spirit animal for fire would be a red fox or kitsune and in some cases a phoenix, air would be a bird of sorts, like a raven or mockingbird, water would be a fish or something and so on.
"So how was class love?" Kenny asks Azarlea as the two of them walk to the courtyard with Marissa, Derek and Tyler. Derek and Marissa cant stay in a relationship, so they're friends with benefits that have the occasional fling. Tyler is just really good friends with the lot of them, but rarely hangs out with them, and spends most of his time with his girlfriend Ysabella.
"She had to sit next to that silent freak!" Marissa says laughing. Theo, looks up, and starts to listen into the conversation.
"Aww babe that musta sucked!" Kenny says, kissing her neck.
"Eh it honestly wasnt that bad." Azarlea says, making Theo crack a tiny smile.
"Did you two talk?" Tyler asks her.
"No. We got our work started though." She shrugs, "hes not to bad."
"He's a freak Zarli!" Derek exclaims. She shrugs, not wanting to argue over a boy shes never spoken too. Theo simply watches from up the tree, pulling his lips into a thin line.
