I followed Mollie into the living room were she was shoving her things into a big trash bag. Chaos had struck at my house, to my left my dad holding his head as tears streaked his cheeks, to my right I could hear my brother tearing his room apart in a angry rage, my youngest brother clung to my side as I followed his mother. "What do you mean you're leaving!?" I asked blocking her so she couldn't go back to the room.

"Nicole, don't start this. It's not permanent. I just need space." She headed to the bathroom to get her bathroom supplies. I followed her lifting my brother up and holding him on my hip, he hid his face in my chest and cried softly not knowing what was happening.

I may have been only 13 but I was the only one in the family who was stable enough to talk her into staying, it wasn't working an I was giving up. "You're a lying bitch!" I shouted out of anger as she packed her tooth brush and tooth paste.

She didn't response but she did begin to cry which only infuriated me more. She caused this, she had no right to cry. I let her past me and she went back to packing. I texted my grandmother an told her I needed help. I put my phone back in my pocket and adjusted Michael on my hip and went back to following Mollie who was taking her last bag outside.

I set Michael on the first step then walked to her car, "nine years Mollie, you've been with my Dad nine years, I've known you since I was 4 and now what? You're done?" I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists trying my hardest not to cry as I looked into her eyes.

She looked back into my eyes with tears running down her face. She took my hand and put a note in it then closed my hand, "it will make sense later, like I said this is temporary." She hugged me but I didn't hug back and eventually stepped back. "I need to take Michael, this environment isn't healthy for him."

"You mean the environment of a broken family you just caused?" I didn't want to admit that she was right and Michael did need to go wither but I had too. "Fine. I'll go get him" I walked back to the steps and picked Michael up. "I'll see you tomorrow." I promised him as he clung to my black loose shirt. I set him in the back seat and kissed his head. "I love you buddy" I said before walking in the house still clutching the note in my hand.

Once inside I walked to my dad and started rubbing his back letting him mumble about how upset he was. Eventually my grandmother got to my house and took over, I headed outside to read the note Mollie had given me.

'To My Little Princess-

Mollie'

As I finished reading the note I let my tears pour from my eyes and onto the paper, I slowly looked up at the sky to see a black night with no stars. "I guess I'm just a black star" I whispered to myself before wiping my eyes and heading back inside to help deal with my family.
