Narrator: Children are suffering from a hidden epidemic of child abuse and neglect. It's a widespread war against our children that we have the power to stop .The National Bureau of Economic Research has found that child maltreatment roughly doubles the probability that an individual engages in many types of crime. Child maltreatment, which includes both child abuse and child neglect, can lead to the victim committing criminal activities such as murder.

(Carlos King sits quietly on a chair with a frown upon his face. Julian Clark walks in with briefcase in his hand.)

Julian Clark: Mr King how are you today?

(Stands up and slam his hand into the table)

Carlos King: How do you think I am? I'm about to be executed. You promised me that this wouldn't happen!

Julian Clark: Mr King, I warned you of all the possibilities of going to trial, if you had taken the plea deal you wouldn't have been in this mess right now.

Carlos King: You have to get me out of this mess! This is what I'm paying you for!

Julian Clark: What do you want me to do? Mr King you have exhausted all of your appeals. The best thing you can do now is make peace with everyone you have hurt and accept your fate.

(Stands to leave)

Carlos King: Please no, you have to help me!

Julian Clark: Good luck Mr King.

(Signals for the guard to let her out)

Narrator: With his head in his hands and the look of regret clear on his face he thinks back to the events that led to that faithful day where he became known as a murderer.
