I stared at myself in the bathroom mirror unsure of my outfit. Usually I couldn't care less about what I look like but today being the first day of school at my new school, I didn't want to make a bad first impression.
"Nellie come on let's go already I have to brush my teeth again" yelled my sister, Beatricia from the hallway.
"One minute. Just hold on" I say. I pulling my brown hair into a side ponytail and putting on a lilac headband to match my lilac t-shirt that has a big number 23 written in white and outlined in turquoise. I fix my dark wash skinny jeans and put on my black eyeliner and light pink lipstick. Finally I put on my favourite perfume, One Direction You & I and stare at myself.
I have golden skin which makes me look like I always have a tan, I have blue eyes and I'm about 5'. First, I'd like to casualy mention that even though I sound perfect, I'm not. I promise. When I say my eyes are blue, they really aren't one is blue, the other is gray, it's hard to tell from far away but anybody who really looks can tell. Plus I just spent two hours trying to fix my tangly hair, which in case you don't know isn't fun and your arms get tired eventually. I've got a small scar on my jaw next to my right ear, it's from burning myself when I was seven, nothing major but the scar is still there. That's only some of my flaws but moving on.
When I leave the bathroom my sister's standing there. "Finally" says Beatricia she's wearing a pale green Aeropostale t-shirt and black leggings.
I go down to the kitchen and see my older brother, Lucas eating leftover pizza from last night. I pour myself a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and sit at the table humming to Ariana Grande's Love Me Harder.
"I thought you were going to the basketball game at your school" I say
"I was going to go but Mom and Dad had to leave early and couldn't take me" he said sadly
"Oh ok" I say and finish eating.
Once I'm done I put my bowl in the dish washer and put on my purple socks with white polka-dots.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaah" I hear from upstairs which means Bea must have hit the light switch because she really has Achluophobia (Fear of the dark). I mean she has a therapist and everything. Bea didn't stop screaming so I had to run across the hardwood floor slipping and sliding to get to bathroom. I pull open the door and see Beatricia screaming and crying in the corner.
She jumps up and runs out, she's got mascara running down her face and has to go in five minutes. After giving her a minute to relax I go in Beatricia's room to comfort her.
Her room has bubblegum pink walls, a pink couch, a twin bed with a hot pink comforter and pillows. There's a signed Cher Lloyd poster on her wall and a picture of her and her best friend, Merritt pointing water guns at each other. She's got Christmas lights all around the room and night lights and lamps in every outlet plus a pink chandelier in the center of the room.
"Bea are you alright" I ask finding her siting on her couch. She nods and I sit next to her.
"I didn't have my flashlight and when I accidentally hit the switch I panicked" she says.
"Bea we have to go" says Lucas walking in with her backpack and flashlight.
"Wait I'm not ready" says Bea panicking.
"Sorry but the bus won't wait" says Lucas handing her the bag and flashlight.
"Lucas you go I'll help Bea" I say
"Alright" he said reluctantly walking away.
"Thanks" says Bea smiling slightly putting on the flashlight necklace.
"No problem but we have to hurry! Get the makeup remover and clean your face, i'll get your shoes." I say quickly then Bea runs back into the bathroom. I go down stairs to get her shoes and socks.
"Nellie! I'm ready!" shouts Bea running down the stairs wearing a yellow long-sleeved top with a collar and white polka-dots, a pair of black jeans and her lucky silver necklace with the letter "B" pendant. Her friend Meritt has the same one but obviously hers says "M".
"Not bad only fifteen minutes but how am I going to get there?" Asks Bea.
"Ride your bike" I suggest giving her her black Converses.
"Oh yeah...duh" says Bea and she goes to get a water bottle and granola bar "Bye good luck and don't be late" she leaves.
I run to my room, turn on my iPod and listen to my favorite song, A Different Beat by Little Mix.
I danced around and sang along.
I got the right to make up my mind
Say it loud and clear for the whole wide world to hear
We're marching for love so turn up the drum
Say it loud and clear for the whole wide world to hear
Yeah we must have different shoes on we're marching to a different beat
Yeah so baby put your boots on and keep marching to different beat!
I then remembered to let my dog back in from the backyard. I ran down and opened the door. My puppy, Harry (Yes like Harry Styles) came running in. He's a chocolate brown Labrador Retriever.
He ran straight to his water bowl in the kitchen and drank all the water. I checked the clock, 7:30 I have to be at school at 7:45 and the bus comes to the park by my house at 7:35. I should head over there.
I refill Harry's water and food bowls and give him his chew toy.
I go to my room, grab my iPod, put on my gray Jordans and pale blue backpack. I grab my trumpet case and run out the door yelling "Bye Harry!"
I walk down the street to the park and see about 7 other people standing there, a girl with neon green hair, two boys playing basketball on the court, a guy in a hoodie listening to music, a girl with red hair and another with black hair sitting on the bench doing each other's hair and another girl with black hair standing off to the side staring at me.
Creepy.
Right then I realise that I forgot my lunch.
"Hey girl right there! Can you hold my bag and stall the bus driver until come back please" I ask the girl with green hair and she nods I give her my bag and run as fast as I can to my house.
Once I open the door Harry is there wagging his tail, I pet him, grab my lunch off the table and run back out and lock the door.
Once I'm at the bus stop the doors to the bus close and me and another girl run up screaming
"Wait we're here! Please open the door!"
Eventually, the driver opens the door and yells "Hurry up next time I won't open the door!" then he closes the door and starts driving before either of us sit.
I find my backpack, take it back and thank the girl. I find the last empty seat and sit down.
"Can I sit here" asks the other girl who came running to the bus with me. She's got an accent it sounds like Northern Irish. She has very curly honey blond hair, green eyes and she has on pink gloss.
"Sure" I reply even though I wanted to sit alone.
