A/N:
Before you read, I just wanted to say thank you for viewing this book and reading it. It's only 69 views but it means a lot since it's my first story.
I drew what the characters look like and added some facts as a thank you. It's at the end of the text so read to the end!—————————————————————————————
Tom POV
After I had a talk with Anna, I went to the island. The island is a place where villagers can go whenever they want for many reasons. I chose to go so I can prove Anna that I can catch a golden stag. The island is perfect for catching bugs and fish, so it wasn't a problem.
"We made it at last," Kapp'n said in relief.
I got off the boat and onto land. I stepped inside the house and went to the island outside of it.
Once I got the tools, I started catching! I ran around looking for bugs until I saw that Lily was there. I froze right at my spot. She was planting mango trees. She turned around and saw me.
"Oh hi Tom."
"Hey Lily."
Bruh, she noticed me. How??? She must have some instincts.
"So, what're you doing here?" I asked.
Lily was eating mangos while planting them. She wasn't planting the ones she bit, that would be weird.
"Just here relaxing alone," she said, "but you're here so we can relax together."
"Okay," I casually accepted. Though inside my head, my emotions were jumping all over the place.
I started searching around for bugs so I wouldn't look stupid. There was a peacock butterfly, so I steadily walked up to it and...
"Do you want a mango Tom?"
That was not the time, I was trying to catch something!
"Yeah sure," I accepted again.
She gave me the mango to my free hand. Our hands touched! Her hand felt nice, so did the mango for some reason.
"Ahem."
What was that noise? I noticed that we've been holding our hands out with the mango in between them for a while.
"Oh, uh, sorry," I apologized with a nervous laugh.
She glared at me with blinking eyes but shook it off.
"It's okay," she replied.
That's what's nice about Lily, she's forgiving.
I took the mango and ate it quickly. It was so delicious~ There's no such thing as a perfect, but it sure tasted like it.
"Thanks," I said gratefully with my mouth full.
"Anytime." She responded.
She began picking seashells now.
Okay, time to focus on what you were here for, I told myself.
"What are you here for?" She asked me curiously.
"Just trying to catch a golden stag," I answered. "I'm gonna prove Anna that I can catch one~"
"It's 2:40 something, do golden stags usually appear around this time?" She asked another question.
"I don't know..." I thought cluelessly.
"How are you supposed to catch a bug if you don't know when it's going to appear?"
"I never caught it before, how am I supposed to know??"
"Wait," she said,"I caught one before, I can help you."
Lily stopped collecting seashells and checked her encyclopedia.
"It comes around 5 pm to 8 am."
"No wonder there weren't any out here," I realized. "I guess I wanted to prove Anna that I can catch one so bad, I didn't even pay attention to when it appears."
Damn! I felt so stupid in front of her at that time.
"It's fine, you can catch other bugs and at least prove to her that you catch all kinds of bugs," she lightened up the mood.
"Whatever, it doesn't matter," I said, shaking it off. "I can catch it when it turns five then."
"What are you going to do now?" Lily asked.
I walked away to give back the tools I borrowed to Lloid and answered her question.
"Y'know, just hang out with you," I replied in a flirtatious voice with a wink.
She seemed a bit shocked by my attempt to flirt and just nodded her head in response.
"Okay, come sit with me near the shore," she ordered calmly.
Lily slowly stepped near the water where you would usually stand to catch fish, and sat on the sand.
I followed and sat next to her. She was staring at the ocean. I guess it was a nice view, the sun and the sea shining.
Together, Lily and I were just admiring the view. The ocean with its smooth and satisfying sway with the light breeze. The sun shining on it too, it was amazing. I should pay more attention to the scenes nature sets up, they're very nice.
I glanced at Lily with the corners of my eyes. Her eyes were closed and she looked calm. She let her hair down instead of the two tails she had earlier.
She was very pretty with her hair down, her hair being blown by the wind in a steady motion. The bright sunlight kissing her skin. Lily was an aesthetic at that moment. She always have been.
"Tom," she broke the silence,"Do you like someone?"
"What?"
I was not expecting something like that from her.
"Uh, no," I lied, avoiding eye contact because she was looking at me. Her deep stare made my face heat up.
"Really?" She asked another question. "Well, if it's true, then you'll find someone you'll like someday."
I didn't respond to her statement. I already like someone. I didn't have the courage to tell her that she's the one I like. I'm not always like that. When it comes to love, I act different from my confident and bold self.
"I like this one person," she claimed.
I turned my head quickly to her direction. Her eyes were closed again, her head was pointing towards the sky. It was a good thing she wasn't looking at me, or else I would've stared at the ocean forever.
"They're very kind and cute," she listed,"sweet and shy. They care for almost everything.."
Lily listed so many traits and described the heck about that person. The person matched well with her personality. But none of those words matched me.
"Sounds like you hang out with them a lot," I said.
"It's actually the opposite," she replied quickly. "We talk sometimes, but it's kind of rare."
"Why do you like them when you barely speak to each other?" I asked.
"I watch that person from afar, admiring everything about them," She spoke. "I admire every perfect thing and every flaw they have."
That answer didn't really answer my question. But it seems that she was interested in that person and maybe stalked them and fell in love.
"Every time that person and I talk, I cherish that moment, even if we talk for a few seconds, I always end up thinking about that moment or just that person in general whenever I daydream."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I hang out with Lily enough times that it's not rare. I'm not shy and kind all the time either. So it's obvious that I'm not that person she loves.
But I felt touched that she trusted me enough that she told me all this, of how she feels towards that person.
Lily was now staring at the ocean again. There was silence between us. She was done with her speech of her crush, I guess.
Her story was so interesting, it made me think in a different way than my usual self.
"What time is it now?" I asked, remembering about the golden stag.
"I think it's four now," she answered.
The conversation we had earlier was so deep, I didn't realize it lasted so long.
"Just an hour left," I said in relief. I still wanted to prove Anna that I can catch a golden stag. When I say I'll do something, I'll do it. I'm very committed.
"Do you want to stay like this in the meantime?" She asked.
"Sure," I accepted.
So we just sat there near the shore talking about life, admiring the scenery, enjoying some silence, and having fun until it hits five. I wish I had more times like this.
