It's only the first day of the new school year. Last year of junior high. I'm surprised that I've been able to keep myself hidden from everyone for so long without a problem. Even now I think of what other people would think. My parents call them the no-changers. People who don't wish for change. Those who hate the system for allowing us to even be closer to humans. They don't like us. I have made some human friends that don't mind difference they love the idea but try so hard to fit in and help hide their different friends. We like people like them seeing as they're so kind to us without us asking.
I always start my day going over to the water fountain to read and wait for my friends to show up to school. I ride my bike rather than walk for many reasons such as me not wanting to be late for school. I soon saw my friends in the distance walking towards the school. They're the only ones who know my secret. Who know what I am. I don't mind but this time I see someone different walking with them. Either a transfer or just a brand-new classmate. I was excited to meet this new person with them.
"Hey Rose!" One of my friends Maria yells to me waving her hand in the air
"Hey Maria!" I yell back jumping up onto the ground and running over to her giving her a tight hug "I noticed you were gone all summer. Where'd you go?"
"Vacation with my family to Germany. It was so much fun. Don't worry I got you a few things." Maria says with a smile
"Yay!" I say with excitement on what she got me "So who's our new friend?" I ask looking at the new student
"Rose meet Charity," My other friend Jane says
"Hi there, Charity. I'm Rose." I say not sure if I should say what I am due to the fact that I had just met this girl, but she seemed trusting.
"Such a beautiful name, my new friends seem to be friends with you. I'm glad I'll be with such great people through the year." Charity says
"So, are you a first year or second year?" I ask nicely as she looked our age but some vampires look our age but are much older.
"First," Charity says with a smile "This is my first time in a public school. I was homeschooled for most of my life." She says
"Oh, that's great! I really hope that you like it here. You'll find a lot to interact with and a lot to see." I say with a small smile
"Well, I'll see you later then. I have to go get my schedule." Charity says before she walked towards the front door
"So, how'd you two find her?" I ask curiously
"She moved in next door to me just a few days ago. Seemed like she was trying to cut the move time awfully short to the beginning of school." Jane says
"Maybe she doesn't like school? Well, public school anyways." I suggest thinking about what Charity had said about this being her first public school year
"Maybe." Jane says before departing from Maria and I with a wave
"So, are you planning on doing softball, volleyball, or cheerleading this year?" Maria asks curiously. I was in a lot of sports last year so of course she would ask me if I was going to be in those same things again
"I was thinking more of just volleyball or softball, maybe swimming?" I say really more unsure about it
"I heard you're in theatre and vocal this year too! You seem like you're going to have a very packed schedule this year." Maria says
"Yea," I say looking at the time before the bell rang "Well looks like class is going to start. I 'll see you and Jane at lunch okay?"
"We'll be waiting in our normal spot!" Maria yells as she ran to her art class. Art was always Maria's favorite encore class. She had it every year I've known her. I just take my time walking to my chemistry class. I didn't know if this year was going to be like last year or not. I couldn't be sure. Last year wasn't fun. People bullied me all of last year for being what I am and just being me. I wouldn't let anyone change me and people didn't like that. I didn't mind being the only drum in an orchestra.
Once I got to my class I took a seat in a desk that was empty while others sat by their friends or people they met this morning. "None of my friends are in here." I say to myself with a small sigh knowing that they weren't going to be in any of my classes. My classes were more advanced than theirs due to me doing after a scholarship and a honor diploma.
"Welcome students!" The teacher greets us "I'm Mrs. Thorn. I will be you're chemistry teacher for this year. I hope you are all ready for a challenge in this class. When I call your name say here." Mrs. Thorn says and began to call out names. I knew a lot of them due to them being the ones that bothered me all of last year. She soon called my name and I said here. I noticed two girls turn around and look at me Crystal and Brooke. Two girls who think they're pretty and popular. I beg to differ with that one. I've seen prettier real beauty before and those people already have a set man for life. I also noticed this one guy looking at me then at what looked like a sketch pad.
This guy was probably the cutest guy in school, Aaron. He's a very quiet person, one that doesn't like to be bothered much. He also plays football along with it which makes him very muscular. I've had a crush on him for years but I never thought that he would look at me let alone notice me at all. I could tell Brooke hated him looking at me. All the hate in her eyes. He doesn't like bullies and he's seen Brooke bully before.
After my chemistry class I started to walk towards my next class which was 3-D art. I loved 3-D art it was so fun. After sitting down someone sat next to me who I recognized. Aaron. I didn't think he would sit next to me after all there were so many other open seats he could've sat in Why is he sitting next to me all of the sudden? I asked myself confused. Our teacher told us to draw a detailed picture of someone we want to be with and me and Aaron began to draw along with the other student. I would glance over at Aaron to keep detail.
I notice him hiding his picture from me Is he drawing me? I ask myself and decided to ignore it and continue my drawing. I knew it probably wouldn't happen. After we all finished she said to sign it and then give it to them. What?! Why is she having us do that?! I hated the idea of giving it to Aaron but he slid a picture in front of me. O h! It's so pretty... He made this for me? Why? I blushed and slid mine in front of him but before he could tell me what he thought the bell rang.
I went over to my locker and put the picture on the inside of it along with other pictures I had of me. It was lunch so I could decorate my locker without really getting in trouble. I heard snickers and looked behind my locker and saw Brooke and Crystal had a girl against a locker bullying her. Even though I was bullied by them I decided to stick up for the girl "Hey! Leave her alone!" I shout at them shutting my locker
"What are you going to do if I don't" Brooke asked with a smirk on her face
"Well if I have to push you away I will." I say looking at them
