I stumbled up the stairs, my bags heavy in my hand. I was meeting my new roommate today. hmm, 405, 406, 407... here it is! room 408, the resident of a guy named Alex and (soon) me, a socially awkward shy girl. I knocked on the door, and Alex opened it instantly like they were waiting.

Alex's appearance took me by surprise. they had light blue hair with black streaks, cut to about their ears. I must admit, it was cute. "hi there! you must be Maddy" Alex said with a smile. "Hi Alex" I said, a little too quiet. they didn't ask me to speak again, thank god. I headed inside.

he inside of the room was a pleasant shade of grey, with a bed in one corner and a kitchen counter in the other. there were 2 doors, one I assumed led to a bathroom, and the other most likely led to my room. alex took my bags out of my hand and set them by the second door. "well, I heard that you are quite shy, so im just going to give you some space to unpack. ok?" I was so thankful that they noticed that, so I happily grabbed my bags and walked into my room.

It was the same pleasant shade of grey, with a double bed in the corner, and a desk in the other. there was a real rug on the floor and a small lamp sitting close by. I grabbed my posters from my backpack and hung two up on the wall. two was enough. I have posters from my favourite musicals, so I try not to put them all up or I look like a weird person. not that that's bad.

it was a few hours later, and Alex was listening to electric music and watching paper towns. god, I love that book. It was a little late, so I decided to go to bed. I climbed under the covers and drifted into a deep sleep.

"Psst, wake up!"

"seriously Maddy wake up"

I finally woke up. "wha.. what time is it? I asked. "It's about 1 in the morning" Alex answered. "why did you wake me up?" I asked. "time for some pranks, mads." Alex pulled me out of bed but then stopped when they realized all I had was a bra and undies on. " I'll let you get dressed.." they stammered. I laughed, and after putting on a sweatshirt and pants, we ran out the door into the darkness. I smiled, I might actually enjoy college.
