Chapter 13: The Night I Disappeared, Part 1
My hatred towards this family burns through the tip of the pen and onto the journal pages. I made a list of all the horrid things these people have done, I've made a map of this floor of the building (to the best of my capabilities), I've written down a couple of quotes on revenge, forgiveness, and betrayal, and I've even tried writing down everything I know about them. I plan on finding out what Trinity and Nate's sisters name is, what Nate and Trinitys moms name is, and the families last name. Then I can think of ways to escape. I mean, so what if I have a tracker in me, they'll still have to catch me.
I think back to the day I was kidnapped. Before all of this. When I had a life. A future. It started off as a pretty normal day...

Before
I wake to the sound of my alarm on my phone blaring through its speakers. I moan, roll over, hit the dismiss button, then lay my head back on the pillow. I don't want to go to school, that involves moving.
I close my eyes, attempting to fall back asleep, when my second alarm goes off. I groan as I kick off my blankets. I hit the dismiss button again, and stand.
3 New Messages, my phone screen reads. I slide my finger across the screen and open my texts.
Dahlia: Hey bitch, wanna come with me to Tims at lunch?
I compose a text to her, saying sure.
Lilly: You're up right? If you're not on your porch by the time we show up, you can walk. Love ya!
I laugh to myself then look at my final message.
Ashley: OMIGOD, James from Social Studies just drove past me! Does that mean he likes me?!?!?
I don't even bother replying, James is the hottest guy in grade 11, and there's no fricken way he'd like someone as annoying as Ashley.
I walk down the stairs to the kitchen. The smell of coffee fills my nostrils and I see my father sitting at the counter watching the news.
"-town houses were set on fire. Investigators are still unsure if the fire was intentionally caused." The television flashes off as my father sees me standing here.
"Catherine, hi, what are you doing up?" My father sputters.
"Um, school," I answer, walking passed him and grabbing a muffin I made last night out of the container. My father is always at work when I wake up. He's a Hazmat worker, and he travels a lot, but even when he isn't out travelling he gets back at around 6:00PM. He usually has to wake up at like 5:00AM to get ready. "Why aren't you at work?"
A tight smile creeps across his lips. "I decided to take two days off, I've just been so exhausted lately," he says, twiddling his thumbs.
"Kay," I answer, shoving the muffin in my face. I put the wrapping in the garbage and head to the bathroom for my shower.

I pull on my skinny jeans, then pull on my tight leather jacket over my red tank top. I pull my hair into a quick ponytail, I put my belt on quickly, then pull on my Burberry heels as Dahlia's car pulls up. Lilly and I have the same pair. I grab my bag off the floor then rush out the door as the car slowly drifts from the curb.
"Very funny!" I shout, my heels clacking against the cement walkway. Lilly sticks her head out the passenger window then sticks her tongue out at me. I hear Dahlia's laughs from the drivers seat. I see Kyra in the back seat, she's Dahlias sister.
