Rachel Walker woke up to the sun shining and the sound of birds chirping in the distance.
'What a perfect way to wake up' she thought.

She looked across the room to see her best friend Kirsty Tate slowly waking up as well.

"Morning Kirsty," she smiled.
Kirsty smiled back at Rachel and sat up.
"Morning Rachel," she replied.

Rachel was about to ask Kirsty what she wanted to do that day but was interrupted by a big crashing sound downstairs.

They ran down to the kitchen where they could see Mrs Tate sitting down in a chair and shaking. Mr Tate was right next to her trying to comfort her.

He looked up at the girls and pointed to them and then to the back door. Rachel and Kirsty nodded and walked through the kitchen and out the door.

"What happened with your mum?" Rachel asked.
"She's been having emotional problems for a while, today must've just been a really bad day for her." Kirsty replied.

"I think I know why," Rachel said, "It could be that Jack Frost has taken Serena's sadness charm and it's affecting everyone really badly."

Rachel and Kirsty had a secret. They were friends with the fairies and had helped them on multiple occasions. Yesterday they had helped Jodie the Happiness Fairy get her Emotion Charm back from Jack Frost and today he must've stolen Serena the Sadness Fairy's Emotion Charm as revenge.

"You're right," Kirsty said, "That must be why."
"Yeah," Rachel replied, "Now we've figured out the problem all we have to do is wait for Serena to arrive and then we can help her get her charm back."

They walked through the front door of their house and up to Kirsty's bedroom to change out of their pyjamas.
When Kirsty opened one of her drawers she started smiling.

"What's up?" Rachel asked.
"Oh you know, just the usual," Kirsty replied.

Rachel walked over to Kirsty and started smiling as well, because, sitting on one of Kirsty's folded t-shirts, was none other than Serena the Sadness Fairy.
