Hey, people. It's my first story about Ereri. I hope you like the idea and find it interesting. Please enjoy and I highly suggest you go see my other works. They are not all fanfictions but you may like them anyway. (There's a Drarry story too, still ongoing. I just started it some days ago.) 😉
P.S. I will always put fanart (that doesn't belong to me) of Ereri in each chapter like I did in this one (see on top^). Bear with it.

[Levi pov]
The movement of the waves kept pushing me around, not letting me keep my grip onto any remnant of the now broken boat. I was stuck swimming in what seemed like an endless sea where waves could engulf my little body as they liked. The storm was raging on above my head, thunder rumbling louder than ever and lightning lighting up the dark grey sky in its yellow-ish color. The storm was making me feel smaller than ever and powerless in front of the greater and indisputable powers of nature.
The boat I was previously on, a small one, had crashed into a big rock that was in the middle of the sea. The ship's crew probably could not see it coming in the darkness of the night. Indeed, clouds were populating, more like ruling over, the sky since we had left the docks so that everyone knew a storm was coming to welcome us. Still, the warning was seen too late since we were already far from the docks when someone saw the sky actually looking more grey than blue.
Our boat was a small cruise ship that was supposed to take us see the whales. However, these whales were not near the shore by any means; one had to go far onto the ocean's surface to be able to catch a glimpse of their enormous figures and graceful movements.
I was, in fact, on a vacation in the south when Hanji and I came up with this idea. They loved anything related to science and biology so studying whales was something they adored too. As for me, I loved ships so I thought it could be interesting somehow. Never would I have been able to guess what would have happened to the whole crew and the people. Never would I have been able to guess that I would be swimming into a cold, unwelcoming sea where any wave would make me swallow a mouthful of water every time and drain what little energy was left in me for every moment spent in the cold salted water.
Overall in my life, I tried to never regret anything that I did but this time I was really regretting it. My body was becoming more and more tired and my mind was somehow worried about the others that were also on the boat. I was not the type of person who would worry about others easily but this time I was kind of concerned for everyone's safety. There was Eyebrows with Shitty Glasses and me onboard, as I usually called them. I honestly did not wish for Erwin's or Hanji's death due to what presently seemed like a stupid decision. Sure, sometimes, more like every time, I said harsh thing to them but that was how I am and I cannot change that fact so easily. Anyway, they understood me most of the times.
Another big wave came at me and made me sink a little into the water that was slowly but surely cooling my whole being for every minutes I spent in there. My mouth tasted some of the salted water again, unable to stay fully closed because of the violence of the wave. Could I not find somewhere to go to? An island or something?
I started to lose my consciousness, too tired to go on swimming in that endless cold water. After hours of drifting at the mercy of the elements, I could no longer fight for my life. All I could see was black and my senses were dull.
I thought of one last thing before giving up, "I don't want to die...".
Slowly but surely, I passed out.
I seriously thought I was going to die just like that but I woke up after what seemed like an eternity of darkness. Opening my eyes as they flinched due to the bright sunlight, I discerned a face leaning over mine and a bright blue sky, devoid of the previously dark grey clouds that were populating it of their great number.
A boy was leaning over me with a worried expression. He was saying something I could not understand. He probably was not speaking English so that did not help me understand him at all. The only thing I had time to take notice of was his eyes. Big bright eyes the color of the ocean on a clear day with some shades of green and specks of gold contributing to these colorful eyes of his stared down at me with such worry that it made me smile weakly, a thing I never did under normal circumstances.
The worry, the unrest and the concern I found spilling from his frantic eyes reassured me somehow that I was still alive and that I was not alone; he would help me recover from this trial. I simply hoped that I was not the only survivor, that at least Hanji and Erwin were also safe somewhere on what seemed to me to be an island due to the feeling of the white sand on my back.
I whispered a small "Thank you..." to the boy, not really realizing why I did so as I became weaker and weaker, my mind slowly giving up on staying awake.
"What the heck went over me, smiling like that to a stranger? Even friends almost never saw me smiling, even me could find traces of my last smile every time I looked into a mirror." was the last thing I thought before passing out again, too weak and shaken by everything I had just experienced to stay awake.
