No this was not Natsu and Gray fighting like you'd think, this is a different type of rivalry.
A personal one.
This was a rivalry between Juvia and Gray, two polar opposites.
It started of fairly simple.
Elementary School:
"Gray-sama isn't wearing any pants!" Juvia announced to the playground of children who carefully avoided the pair.
"Juvia made it rain again!" Cried Gray in response, holding his hand out to the innocent drizzle.
"No Juvia didn't!" She yelled as she stomped toward him from across the play ground, "Juvia doesn't have magic!"
"Yes she does!" Gray insists. "She talks weird and she's a witch!"
Juvia began to cry again, "She doesn't want to talk like this, Gray-sama is so mean!"
"And don't call me Gray-sama, its weird." He sneered as he ran toward the play ground.
She followed him, "Juvia bets she can go farther on the monkey bars than Gray-San can!" Juvia yells to Gray's back.
"You're on!" Gray yells as he barrels towards the monkey bars, determined to get there first.
And that's how their rivalry began, they'd challenge each other and boast when they won and accuse the other of cheating when they didn't.
As they grew older it turned into challenge of academics and sports.
But it all changes with a single bite.
With a single bite, Gray and Juvia became one.
