Toasty walked through the forest, his yellow orange-fur dappled with sunlight filtering through the leaves above. He pulled his golden pocket watch out of the pocket of his blue jacket. The watch’s hands told him that he was going the right direction. He replaced the watch and continued padding down the thin forest path he had been following for the past few hours.
Soon the trees opened up and Toasty walked out of the forest and into an open clearing. This was it, the spot he had picked out earlier. He located a suitable rock and sits down to wait.
He checks his pocket watch, noting the time. "Hmm, they're late..." He says to himself.
The sound of rustling leaves announces the arrival of the first guests. Out of the forest walks two cats, one had black fur and wore a blue gui, the other was [Eclipse Description]. Both were female.
The black one, who happened to be named Echo, spoke to Toasty. “Hi!” She said, waving her paw.
Before Toasty could greet the new comers another cat, this one a sandy orange color. “I’m here!” The space cat responded. She was a space cat, because her name also happened to be Saturn. [Saturn description].
Toasty finally got a hold of himself, slipping his watch into his pocket as he got up to greet each guest. “I was wondering if anyone was going to show up,” he said shaking each cat's paw in turn.
“What do you mean no one was going to show up? Did you predict this? Hmm!?” Echo questioned.
“I just didn't think anyone would want to come, but that's apparently not the case.”
“So where are the others?” Saturn asked, fiddling with the Saturn shaped pendant around her neck.
“I'm not sure, I didn't check to see who's coming when I left.”
“Suuuure…” Echo said, clearly disbelieving Toasty's intentions.
A voice behind the four cats announces the arrival of another guest. “I'm guessing this is the right place?” It was none other than Blaze McBurn. Her yellow and brown fur seemed to shimmer with heat as she walked into the clearing, her fluffy tail trailing behind.
Saturn, noticing Blaze, walked over to her and offered her paw to shake. “Hi!”
“Don’t touch me!!” Blaze hissed, pulling back from Saturn’s paw.
“Sorry…” Saturn said backing up from Blaze. Blaze glared at her in response, then rudely pushed past her. When Blaze's fur touched Saturn, it felt like brushing hot coals. Saturn winced pulling back, clearly, this was no ordinary kitten.
The sound if jingling metal announced a the arrival of another guest. The newcomer appeared to be brown and white Tabby with gold bands around their paws and head. Their eyes were golden and their name was Zehavi. They nodded respectfully to the cats already present.
“Hi!” Eclipse called.
“Hey,” Echo echoed.
“What did I do wrong…” Saturn mumbled, looking down at her feet and, rubbing her singed shoulder.
Toasty observed the new comers with interest. Each had their own unique powers and traits. “Fascinating…” He whispered.
“What did you say, you time traveling psychic!!!” Echo screamed at Toasty.
Everyone jumped at her sudden outburst. “The heck…?” Blaze remarked. Echo only shrugged.
Toasty, after recovering from being screamed at, replied, “Oh! I was just thinking about how it seems that Blaze's fur is hot. I've never seen that before.”
Blaze blushed a fiery red, “Touch it and see, how about.”
Meanwhile, while the other cats were socializing, Zehavi sat on the sidelines, lost in their thoughts. Discomfort tensed Zehavi's muscles and made their golden bands tighten a around their paws. The surplus of cats was not helping their anxiety, but they forced themselves to stay calm and think logically. A lot of these cats seem to be a bit... what was the word... spiky. Yes, spiky. Zehavi noted, in their mind, these cats are spiky. Who knows what is going on in this cat's mind, they clearly don't.
Toasty's curiosity got the better of him. “Ok…” He extended one hand towards Blaze's fur. He could feel the heat emanating from Blaze's body. Carefully, he reached into his pocket and pressed a button on his pocket watch.
Toasty's hand touched Blaze's fur. At first it felt normal, then it was suddenly as hot as an iron. “Ack!” Toasty yelled, pulling back his hand. A small spark of light snapped from Blaze's fur into Toasty. Immediately a warmth spread throughout Toasty's body.
“Serves you right…” Blaze mumbled, turning away arms folded.
Zehavi tilted their head to the side, their bright golden eyes watching the other cats. They gazed onwards with amusement and a little bit of fear.
Saturn's eye began to sparkle. The eye that contained the planet that bore her name. “Something is about to happen…” She whispered.
“Wow that's hot!” Toasty exclaimed, blowing on his singed fingers. As he did so a spurt of red flames jetted out from his fingertips. Blaze rolled her eyes at Toasty’s stupidity, how could he think that he could touch her?
Eclipse's necklace began to glow ominously, as Echo watched Saturn with an odd expression. Saturn’s eye began to glow brighter, “Guys...” Toasty’s watch started ticking. He looked down at his pocket with concern.
"Whats going on?" Eclipse asked, approaching Saturn.
“What is that cursed noise?" Blaze moaned, as Toasty’s watch continued to tick louder and louder. Toasty withdrew his watch, its face was glowing green and the clock hands were spilling around violently. His eyes grew wide.
“Guys! Watch out!” Saturn yelled, as a massive zombie dog burst out of the bushes and into the clearing. It’s face was a mask of rotting flesh and moldy fur as it growled, leaping towards the cats.
Toasty tripped, falling to the ground, trying to get away. Hardly thinking, Blaze threw herself in front of Toasty, protecting him from the rabid dog. Echo, who had been staring creepily at Saturn, snapped back into focus. “Hejx’adoib!” Echo slurred, “A zooombiede!” The zombie charged towards blaze, but Blaze was ready. She leaped forward, tackling the beast, her red hot fur searing its flesh.
Saturn’s eye glowed brighter "Come on guys!" she said, as she pounced on the dog, ripping it’s flesh with her claws. Toasty quickly scrambled off the ground, clicking the button on his watch. The ticking stopped as a silvery sword blossomed in his other hand. Toasty charged the zombified canine, sword raised to strike.
“Attack it!” Echo screamed, pulling a dagger from her bag.
Zehavi watched the other cats fight the monster. “There is a logical way out of it, but spiky cats choose to fight," The observed. Zehavi narrowed their golden eyes. The metal bands around their paws floated out in front of them, lowing with a dim golden light. Then they quickly wrapped around the zombie dog's front paws, causing it to trip and fall to the dirt.
Toasty reached the dog, bringing his sword down on the monster's leg. Toasty’s sword turned red, as Blaze’s fire magic ignited the metal from within Toasty. The creature shrieked in pain, shaking Blaze and Saturn off its back. Saturn flew through the air slamming into a tree, her jaw bleeding from the impact.
Echo jumped forward stabbing the undead canine with her blade. "Die you beast!"
Blaze had had enough of this. She picked herself up from the ground and leapt at the dog. She wrapped her arms around the dog’s neck, causing it’s flesh to burn. The dog struggled for a moment, before collapsing to the earth. The now very dead corpse sat in the middle of the clearing, surrounded by the stench of burning fur and rotting flesh.
Saturn slowly stood up, rubbing her head. “Ack!” she exclaimed tasting the blood that was now dribbling out of her mouth. She searched through her bag until she located a bandage.
Echo, noticed Saturn’s injury and rushed over. “Are you ok?” she said in a concerned voice.
“Yeah, I’m fine” She stuck the cotton bandage in her mouth and trotted off.
“Well... That was unexpected…” Toasty said, clicking his watch. The silvery sword vanished, withdrawing into Toasty’s hand.
Without warning or reason Eclipse suddenly blurted, “Hey Saturn!!! Echo has a cr—!”
Echo quickly silenced her sister. “Shut up!!” she said, clapping a paw over Eclipses mouth.
Blaze turned around with shame, her hands covered in charred blood and zombie gore. She reeked of death. "It's alright Blaze," Toasty said, patting her on the shoulder. This time Toasty was not burned by Blazes fur, the resovow of Blazes magic inside him keeping him safe. Blaze turned around. She gave Toasty a look in an obviously tsundere way.
“I know, I'm not stupid...” she replied, but she did not pull away from his hand.
Zehavi's bands forged back around their paws, and they shook their head. "This could have been avoided." They gazed at the corpse. "Why are you all so... spiky."
“I'm spiky?” Saturn asked, seeing that she was fairly round.
Zehavi glanced over at Saturn, then put a small smile. "No, you are not spiky."
"Should we get to know each other?" Saturn asked, trying to suggest something to get their mind off the battle.
Eclipse suddenly noticed something was off. She put her paw on her chin, trying to figure out what is was. Giving up on thinking she turned to Echo to ask her if they had forgotten anything. But, to her surprise Echo wasnt standing right next to her anymore. Eclipse, began panicking, turning all around, searching for her sister. Then she gasped loudly. “Where’s Echo!!!” The others didn’t seem to notice Echo’s absence. Eclipse’s panic escalated. She hopped up onto a tree branch, trying to find any sign of her missing sister. sat on a tree branch. Tears of fear and panic began to seep out of her [COLOR] eyes. "Echo could be in great danger..." she whispered.
Zehavi watched Eclipse, their whiskers twitching with amusement. They enjoyed this cat. Suddenly a new cat burst into the clearing. She stopped in front of the zombie corpse her [COLOR] cloak, whisking around her siamese fur. "Oh my, what happened here guys?" The cat, whose name was Kalgi, said with great concern.
“Zombie dog,” Toasty replied curtly.
