Chapter One

Another weekend spent alone.

That's how Anya's life went by.

Another weekend which was spent trying to figure out how to reach her soulmate, rather than spent with her friends.

This is how it's been since she was young, when she first found out about soulmates.

She spent countless hours just trying different things. Anything that could make a connection.

"I just have no idea what it could be!" She sighed.

She was sitting at the island in the kitchen while her mother made dinner.

"You aren't supposed to know right away. It's supposed to be something you feel, deep down in your heart." Her mother said in her lyrical voice.

Anya huffed, and slouched down further in her seat. 

"But I've tried everything! Singing, dancing, even sports!" Anya said, disappointed.

"You'll find your connection honey, I know you will." Her mother said, turning around to face her only child.

Anya just huffed again and reached for the Sharpie that was sitting in front of her. 

She had the habit of drawing on herself. It didn't matter where she was or what she was doing.

She'd always had a passion for art. She knew that it wasn't her connection though, because she had never gotten a response.

With small, precise movements, she quickly sketched out a small lotus on the inside of her wrist.

 She set the black marker back down on the counter when she heard her mothers voice,

"Anya, go wash up, dinner's almost ready." She said, stirring the pot of soup.

"Ok mom." Anya said, dragging herself out of her chair. 

Suddenly, she crashed to the ground.

"Damn chairs, always tripping me!" Anya yelled, rubbing her sore back. 

"Well maybe if you would get out of them normally, rather than like a gorilla with a broken ankle, this wouldn't happen!" Her mother lightly scolded her.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Anya laughed, standing up and walking to the bathroom.

Welcome to my book, Lotus!

This will (obviously) be a soulmate story. I've kinda always wanted to write one of these so I figured I might as well rip the bandaid off, ya'know? 

Anyways

I figure some kinda introduction is needed (in case anyone I don't know reads this.)

My name is Dorieann, but I prefer to go by Dori (yes like the fish lmao)

I am currently 15 and I live in Washington state.

My birthday is in October so expect awesome Halloween updates.

I am genderfluid, and pan/demi.

I enjoy dancing, writing, and video games.
