Troublemakers

When I was very young my parents left me on the steps of an orphanage. I don't remember them but I do remember them telling me to stay and that they'd be back soon. I can't even Remember if they looked sad when they left.

Since I was young and a girl lots of families took me in, but I never stayed with a family for longer than a month. I was what you call a "problem child". Couples with no children couldn't take care of me and others with children worried I'd corrupt them. I didn't understand this until I was seven. I tried to run away more times than I could count and I was always brought back.

Everything changed when I ran into a man when I was nine. To this day I've never forgotten what happened that day.

{Flashback}

Once again I was running away. I didn't want to be in that place anymore it was like a jail and everybody was mean. I was walking with my head down when I suddenly got pulled back.

"Watch out little girl you almost walked into oncoming traffic", said a tall man.

When I didn't say anything he spoke again.

"Where are your parents sweetheart", he said while squatting down so he could see my face.

"I don't have any", I say and look down at his shoes.

He takes a moment before he talks again,"Okay do you know your address?"

I shake my head yes.

"Can you take me to your home?",He asks.

"No please don't take me back", I beg to try to see if I can make him not take me back," they're mean to me there and nobody wants me."

"You have to go back I'm sure they're worried about you and don't worry I'll have a talk with them to make sure they treat you right.", he said while taking my hand to lift me up so I could lead the way.

"Tell bang I'm going to be late to our meeting", he says quietly to a man standing nearby.

I want to ask who bang is but I know better than to ask questions about adult stuff.

"So can you tell me why you're out here by yourself?", he asks after a minute of silence.

"Cause I was running away", I say in a duh tone.

"Running away?", he says in a laughing manner.
