Chapter 5
It's been three days since Carson's weird behavior about Florida. He's been avoiding me since then. Carson's never done anything like this before, he's always told me everything so I don't understand why this time would be any different.
Tonight's the night of the party. Emily and I decided to get ready and drive to the party together. Right now, Em's curling my hair for me and doing my makeup. I've already straightened her hair for her and she's done her own makeup because I can't do anything past mascara and maybe eyeliner.
"So how's everything with Carson? Have you guys spoken yet?" Em asks, I told her everything about Carson and how weird he's been lately.
"I'm trying to give him space until he's ready to talk to me. I don't know what's up with him though, he's never done this to me before." I miss talking to Carson. I thought when he'd come home everything would be perfect. "Apparently Florida's changed more then his looks."
"I'm sorry to say this, but Carson is way yummier than he was when he left. Every time I see him I just wanna jump him." Em stares into the distance almost as if she's dreaming about him right now. I hit her bringing her out of her trance.
"You, Emily Hermetz, are so boy crazy. I just don't know what to do with you." I laugh as she rolls her eyes. I love her to death, but she really needs to find a boyfriend. I feel like I neglect her sometimes, focusing so much on my relationship with Luke, and hanging out with Carson. She has other friends, obviously, but I think she needs somebody who really loves and cares for her.
"I'm sorry, but boys are great, and I would rather not deny myself the great things in life. We only have so long to live Skye." Em smirked. I just stared at her with a straight face waiting for her to crack. Finally, she started laughing. When I say laughing, I mean guffawing.
"You are so full of shit, Emily!" I throw a pillow at her, laughing. She screeches, dropping the curling wand on the ground. I, myself, jump away from it. Hey, I don't wanna get burned and that thing is hot.
"Hey! That's not funny, I could've died," Em whines, as she sees me starting to laugh, "I had a curling wand in my hand!" She crosses her arms and fake pouts. Really, she really thinks I'm gonna fall for that face. "Say you're sorry." Em says, as I roll my eyes.
"Em, you know I won't fall for it." I smirk, staring straight into her eyes, challenging her to give up. She starts giving me the eyes. Not just regular eyes, the Emily eyes. Ten times more heartbreaking then the puppy dog eyes, just a level under the "Puss in Boots" eyes.
I'm done now. What was I even thinking challenging her, this is her specialty. Shit. My brain finally realizes I'm a goner.
"Okay, okay! I'm sorry, I shouldn't have thrown a pillow at you. Now please, just put the face away!" I beg, and Em smirks knowing she won, again. "Now can you finish curling my hair, the parties gonna start soon."

At 9:45, Em and I pull up to Drew's house. It's a bigger than the average house; looks like it has 5 bedrooms, a basement and 2 floors. It's really nice, definitely a good party house.
We walk in the front door, which was graciously opened by a boy who looked to be high off something, into a open living room with stairs to the right of the room. I can also see that if you walk straight there's doors that open into the kitchen. All the furniture has been pushed off to the side for a makeshift dance floor, which seems to be pretty packed with sweaty bodies.
"You brought our drinks right?" I yell to Em over the pounding, and may I add headache inducing, music.
"Obviously, what's the point of coming to these things if you don't bring alcohol!" She answers giggling, "you can't even enjoy a party sober."
I roll my eyes answering, "Em you're really something. I'm going to go see if I can find Luke." She nods, looking around. She waves to someone, and I look over to see one of the girls who sits at the cafeteria table with us. Her name is Teresa.
"I'm gonna go talk to Teresa, find me after you've found Luke?" She suggests. I nod, and she heads toward Teresa.
I start to push my way through the party scanning for Luke as I go.
I have a love/hate relationship with parties. I love to drink and have fun, but I hate how crowded they are. Seriously, it could be -20•c outside and it would still be hot and sweaty in the room. How is being in a room with 75 people even comfortable.
Finally, I spot Luke in the corner with Carson, and some of the other football players. I walk over and kiss Luke on the cheek, surprising him. "Hey, I was looking everywhere for you," I look towards Carson, "hey Carson, how are you?" Carson just brushes off my question and turns to talk to Drew. What the hell is his problem seriously.
"Hey, the boys and I were just thinking of playing some beer pong, wanna be my partner?" Luke asks me pulling me out of my thoughts.
I turn to him smiling, "Of course."
