The Stray Dog ( A Love Story )

Chapter 4

-Jillian-

we were walking out of the pet store, and Luke was complaining about me using all his money. Instead of listening to him go on and on i was looking for the dog. I said that to myself again "the dog". it need a name.

" Luke what should we name it?" I asked "Name what? Were you even listening to me?"

" The dog's name Luke and no I have better things to do than listen to you go on and on."

"Jillian we don't even know what it is or what the gender is how can we give it a name?"

"I don't know I just thought it would be better than calling it 'The Dog'." Just then I tripped on the sidewalk and Luke caught me before I face planted. I don't know what got into me. I don't know if it was his eyes or what, but I found myself leaning in, and so was he.

No Jillian you can't like him it would just make it awkward between you and him. I can't like him he is the new guy. The new weird guy that no one likes right now. So why did I find myself still leaning in and not wanting to turn my cheek? I don't know maybe I did really want to kiss him. Then his lips smashed into mine and stayed like that until he pulled away.

"I'm sorry it was just in the moment sorry I have to go um see you at school."

"No wait its ok I liked it."

"You did? I thought you didn't like me like that I thought we were just friends?"

"Me too but umm we can try it if you want to?"

"I have to go ummm talk to you tomorrow."

But he didn't he didn't even come to school for a week. I had to put the stuff in the garage by my self and go pick up the dog by myself. But it really wasn't that hard all I had to do was put its collar on and latch the leash on it and it was happy to come with me. But I had to call and get an appointment for the dog. Well I had found out it was a girl and without Luke around I named her Lilly and I don't care if he didn't like it he should have been around. Well I had to call the vet.

I dialed the number that the phone book told me too.

Ring ring ring

"The Big Apple's Animal Hospital this is Margret. How may I help you?"

"Hello umm my name is Jillian and I just adopted a dog and I would like a check up for her."

"Ok what's her name?"

"Lilly."

" Ok well I have a 2:30 for today open?"

"Ya that would be great. Thank you bye." I kinda wish that Luke could come with me. I mean he was the reason that I have this dog I mean he is the one who planned it. Why hasn't he talked to me he said he would call me, but he lied. If he didn't want to be together then all he had to do was say so. But it is probley easier said than done I probley would have taken it the wrong way and hated him.

I have to call him. I have to call him myself. I picked up my phone and dialed his number. Yes I memorized his number every spare time I had I was staring at my screen looking at his contact waiting.

The phone rung and he picked up

"Hello? Who is this?"

How could he not know?

"its Jillian how come you haven't called me or been at school in the last week its like u dropped off the face of the earth."

"Oh hi to you too Jillian how have you been?"

"How have I been? You could have called me like you said you would a week ago! And then not going to school! To avoid me?!?!?!"

"Jillian you never gave me your number how was I supposet to call you?! You never gave me your number like YOU SAID YOU WOULD!"

"Well you could have reminded me I have things going on I have a life too you know!"

"So anyway I turn this it's going to be my fault right? And for your information I haven't been at school because I'm with my dad. In the hospital!" Oh My Gosh I didn't know his dad was in the hospital! Oh great now I feel bad? But how could I have known he never had my number to tell me.

"Oh well I'm sorry but Luke when are you getting back I kinda need your help with the dog, and I found out it's a girl and named her Lilly."

"Jillian I have missed you and I have thought about coming back for a day just for you and I was going to but then my dad got worst and I had to stay here with him I thought that that was only fair. Jillian I am willing to give us a try if you are."

He really meant it. I could feel it though his voice. Just then I looked at my watch and saw it was 2:15. OMG I WAS GOING TO BE LATE!!!!

"Hey Luke I have to go take Lilly to her vet appointment but Ya I am willing to give it a try so I will talk to you later. Bye."

"Bye."

Omg did that just happen? Did he just ask me out? OMG HE DID!!! Focus Jillian you have to take Lilly to the doctors. I went to the garage and got Lilly and started to the vets. It turns out that the vet was just like 5 blocks down from my house. I parked my car and let Lilly out the back seat. We walked inside and I checked Lilly in. I had to do this all this first time paper work. I dint know some of the answers though like birthday or how old because I could I have known I found her on the street.

I handed it back and the lady just smiled at me and told me to sit down in the waiting room. While I was sitting Lilly jumped up on my lap. That brought back a lot of memories from Lacy. But I didn't have anytime to think about it because I was called to the back.

"Ok so this is Lilly?" the vet asked

"Yep this is she." She got through the whole check up and there were a few shots she needed so she got those and when the doctor looked at her belly she had scars all over it. The doctor said she had been beaten when she was little. I just about died I felt so bad. Oh could someone be so cruel?!?! But then I found out that Lilly has cancer in her ear. I broke down crying in the car. I pulled out my phone and called my Luke. He answered on the first ring.

"Hello?"

"Luke it's about Lilly."

I have been busy and I don't know how many people are reading this and I didn't think anyone was but I guess some people are so I just whipped this up even though I'm sick I have had time so yup well here it is!
