Rose's POV

I hopped on my bike and put the key into the ignition. After a few unsuccessful turns, my baby finally roared to life. I reversed from the parking lot and went through security. The security guard let me through and I rode my bike to the highway.

I was supposed to meet with a colleague to quickly set up the venue before it started. I was almost late and my colleague was furious. When I reached the headquaters, I quickly hopped of my bike and ran towards the entrance where Louis, my colleague, was waiting.

I jogged over to him and apologised for not being punctual. He grunted and told me not to be late again. I nodded my head as a sign of agreement and we head out to the garden where the pavillion was.

That was our venue for the convention. There won't be many assassins therefore the venue didn't have to be huge. The 'stage' would be the pavillion itself. We just decorated it to make it seem more classy and sophisticated.

Afterwards, we set up the table which would be occupied with food and drinks that will arrive soon. We didn't use any bright colours like pink, green or yellow as the dress code was black and white. The colours we used to decorate the venue were black, white and gold.

After 30 minutes of preparation, we finally finished setting up the garden. We had to wait for Boss to arrive, approve and allow the visitors to enter. The visitors were to be escorted to the garden as we don't want them meddling and loitering in our office.

Some of us were also given duties as 'guards' to ensure that no visitor enters the unauthorised facility. I was one of the people on duty and I have three shifts that night.

Boss, finally arrived a few minutes before the event officially started. He approved of our finished deco and we were asked to escort the guests in.

Louis, Ryder, Victoria, Autumn and I were the only assassins on duty. We had a specific schedule to follow and it requires us to take turns when inviting the guests in.

It was mandatory for all assassins on duty to wear sunglasses. I quickly grabbed mine from my motorbike compartment and headed to my station. Victoria and Louis were on patrol duty while Autumn, Ryder and I would escort the guests in.

There were a few assassins that came to the foyer of our office on time, which we appreciated. Twenty minutes had passed and I have already escorted seven assassins in.

I had about 10 minutes before I had to switch shifts with Victoria as I noticed something suspicious about the car pulling into our office's parking lot. I had a weird gut feeling that the driver was someone I knew eventhough I don't know anyone who owns a range rover.

I quickly informed my other colleagues and my boss to tighten the security by a little. As the driver got out of his car, he had a passenger who rode shotgun. They looked familiar but I couldn't figure out who they were because they were wearing bandanas around their face.

I had a gut feeling that something bad was going to happen that night but I kept it to myself as I thought I was just being paranoid. It was my turn to escort the familiar guests in and I approached them as they strolled to the foyer.

"The convention is in the garden of the building. Please allow me to escort you there," I said.

They nodded their heads and proceeded to trail behind me as I walked towards the garden. They were observing the hallway they were walking in whilst looking around. I started to feel nervous as they whispered over my shoulders.

I don't think they knew how loud they were because I could hear every single thing they said.

"Hey bro, that's her!" one, softly yelled.

"Who's her?" the other responded.

"Darnella! The girl we had a bet on?" the first one said.

"No way."

"Yes, dude. What is she doing here?"

"I'm not sure. Maybe we should do a background check on her when we get home?"

"Yeah."

Their conversation came to a halt when I stopped walking and stood in front of the garden.

"Okay, we're here. Over to your left is the bar and the station slightly to the right of it are the tables and chairs. The pavillion at the centre is where you can share your tips or tricks to a perfect assassination to the rest of the assassins present.

To your right is the where the food is stationed and it would be restored every hour. We have an empty space in front of the pavillion for the crowd to move on to listen to the speakers but you can do anything you want there at the moment. Don't you worry, security is tight tonight.

We have guards at every corner of the building. I hope that you'll have a great night here. We really appreciate your time and effort to head down here." I said as I pointed to the specific stations to tour them at a stationary position.

They nodded their heads and shot an okay sign with their hands as a sign of acknowledgement. I shot them a smile before heading back to my station.

My boss was already in my ear since the event started so I just had to ring him to tell him about the information I had just found out. Mr Mafia and Mr Drug Dealer were in the building. We had more guards patrolling the building and the garden.

We could not afford a Mafia Leader and his Drug Dealer brother do anything to or against the company. They had already recognised me and this meant that I'll have to play along to whatever game they're playing.

When I finally reached the foyer, my shift was already over so I had to switch positions with Victoria. I walked over to the main office, which was where Victoria was stationed, and took over her place.

It was already 10 minutes into my new shift when I heard the door knob turn. Someone was trying to open the door. I put my left hand on my gun and slowly inched towards the door. The door knob kept jerking upwards and downwards until it stopped after a few seconds.

I realised that it might have been an intruder because all assassins working for the Innocence Agency had keys to every room in the building. I pulled out my gun from my pants and swiftly hid under a desk without a sound made once I saw it open.

I eavesdropped on the conversation of the two intruders. As I was listening, I swiped my thumb across the panel we had for emergencies like this under the desk once I confirmed that it was really an intruder.

Upon swiping my thumb, this will alert all the other assassins or bosses in the building to where the emergency is or where I am located at the moment. The panel will only read thumbprints of the bosses or assassins working for Innocence Agency, otherwise, it would not do anything.

The system would alert all employees by vibration in their ear pieces. That way, we could be discreet during our missions. My heart started beating rapidly as I heard Eugene and Griffin talking. I started to feel dizzy as my eyes started droop.

a/n: hi, im back! today was the last day of the first semester and tomorrow marks the start of the holidays! im so excited to continue writing this story. i really hope you enjoyed reading this story so far. i understand that i haven't been producing fantastic chapters lately and i sincerely apologise. i felt a little pressured to continue writing because i saw that people were actually reading my book eventhough i had writers' block. that resulted to horribly written chapters being published. once again, i apologise. now, putting that aside, i really hope you have enjoyed reading my previous chapter and i hope that you'll have a nice day!
