Everything started out normally that day. As I was walking to Grandpa's house, I greeted the people in the village I was born in with sincerity, respect, and gratefulness. Just kidding, I greeted them like a normal person would! Looking around, I saw that everyone was following their own daily routine for the day. The Elders were at the village square telling stories to the children and teaching them how to wield their powers safely. You see, in this world, there are beings called spirits that fight alongside humans to defeat the corrupted spirits. Nobody knows how it all started, but they say that during a period of time, spirits started disappearing and when they were seen again, they appeared as though they were corrupted by some mysterious force that could not be cured by whatever healing methods they had back then. The people were scared because it was a very common fact that if you killed a spirit, the person bound to it will die. Then they suddenly showed up, the first Guardians that protected the planet from being destroyed. They're the ones that cured the corrupted spirits without killing them, and this phenomenon has happened generation after generation. Though people are saying that this generation of Guardians will wipe out the source of the corruption (for like, forever!).
There are reasons that Grandpa doesn't join the other Elders in the village square. Mainly it's because he's the chieftain of the village, but also he teaches Born Elementalists in our village how to control their powers. People who have awakened their spiritual powers are called Elementalists, but sometimes babies are born with their destined spirit already awakened in them. For these special cases, the child is called a Born Elementalist. You would think that an average Born Elementalist's spiritual wavelength would be on the same scale as an average Elementalist's wavelength, surprisingly, it's not. Grandpa said the people who like to study these kinds of things shared with the world that Born Elementalists are usually stronger than the average Elementalist. Apparently, when the baby is in the womb, the mother will subconsciously feed the baby spiritual power. When the mother gives birth, all the energy that has been fed to the baby explodes (This doesn't hurt the baby. In fact, the people delivering the baby have to check using a machine or someone's ability to know if the baby is a Born Elementalist.), forcing the dormant spirit inside to wake up. This occurance is rare in the world, but in some parts of the planet, where there's a lot of energy flows (basically places where the planet's natural energy is more active and alive), these occurance aren't that rare. One of these places is my home, the Dragon Village. Just as it's name tells, we train dragons! Yep, everyone in this village has to learn how to ride a dragon and how to call them when you need them. They're are a way of transport for this village, in fact, villagers who are dragon riders transport travellers to places they need to go to for money (it's like a taxi). You need to learn how to call them because they are friends to us, not pets who are leashed up and have their freedom taken away (sorry to readers who take good care of their pets and leash them for a good reason), so we let them roam around. They know not to bother human beings and to come back when we need them too (The dragon riders give their buddies A LOT of time to roam around, and I'm not exaggerating). Still, my dragon is a bit more difficult to ride on. The thing is, my spirit is actually a dragon, so Grandpa has to teach me how to "keep in check" of my spirit. Also, if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a Born Elementalist!
