Three Syllables

The love that once consumed you,
Now clouds your judgement.
Hatred runs thick in your veins.
Three syllables that destroy happiness.
Jealousy.

The wick of knowledge and imagination,
burns bright in all minds.
Except yours.
Three syllables that destroy opportunities.
Ignorance.

You cannot stop,
That is how you console yourself.
Leave while you can or you won't be left.
Three syllables that destroy the vessel of your soul.
Gluttony.

Life races past,
Cruelty and pity leave,
Their perceptible mark on your conscience.
Three syllables that are the realisations of life's most important lessons.
Forgiveness.

Satisfaction makes you glow.
You utilize all you have,
Never asking for more.
Three syllables that are the essence of a fruitful life.
Happiness.

Lies cut past the barriers you placed,
Around your heart, and you bleed.
Only one way to stop.
Three syllables that save others lives.
Honesty.
