A black dragon, dark as night with blue and purple markings soared above its small colony of her people. Everyone in that colony worked together, no one was a leader; they were equal to each other.

The black midnight dragon landed gracefully and closed her wings against her body. She walked into the cave where her colony was.

"Welcome back Night." A frosty blue dragon spoke to her as she made her entrance. Night's tail brushed against the blue frost dragon's face as she passed him.

"Nice to see you too, Frost."

A couple weeks prior, Night found an injured dragon. Human attacked him and injured him badly, tearing his wings so he couldn't fly. He was bright red when angry but normally, he was a dull red with white symbols on his back.

"Would you like to see Valkaria? He's still recovering but he's up now." Frost asked Night.

"Take me to him." Night spoke in a light demanding tone.

Frost led her to the medical wing of the colony. She saw Valkaria laying on the ground, away from the others.

Night walked over to Valkaria and laid down, resting her head on her feet.

Valkaria turned his head away, so it was facing the wall.

"How are you today? Are your injuries any better?" She spoke, not looking to him and keeping her eyes closed.

"Why do you care? I didn't even need your help."

"Then you can leave. If you don't need my help, then kindly, leave." Night stood up and walked away to talk to others and check up on them and to also to check on the younger ones.

He tried getting up but his leg collapsed under him. Night turned to look at him and saw him silently crying.

"I won't help since you keep insisting that you don't need it. Everyone is equal here and we help each other out, no matter the circumstance. Now if you need anything let me or anyone else know." Night spoke in an annoyed tone.

"Stay... Please stay... No one has ever tried helping me before..." Valkaria whimpered out.

"Because you don't ask for it."

"But I don't know how to ask.." His voice was low as he spoke.

Night sighed and walked back over to him and laid down, this time facing him.

"I never had anyone in my life so I don't know how to ask, okay? I've been alone all my life."

"Who were your parents?" Night questioned.

"I don't know."

"Do you know what type you are?" She questioned more.

"I don't know that answer either."

"When you are stronger, we will see what kind you are." Night spoke with pride in her words.

"Why did you even save me?" Slight anger was behind Valkaria's words.

"Because I saw a fellow dragon in need of help. You were injured and could fly to safety. You were weak as well."

He looked away. She quickly realized that saying he was weak was essentially an insult to him. "Fine."

"I can help make you stronger." She spoke in hopes of getting his attention back.

"How?" He questioned as he glanced back at her.

"You'll see later on when your injuries are healed."

"Fine. I only know one thing about myself."

"Which is?" Night tilted her head slightly, urging him to speak.

"I'm related to the Dragon King somehow."

Night snarled slightly, bearing her teeth at hearing the name of his relation. She stood up and looked at his markings, and realized the relation. She couldn't tell the markings at first because of the injuries.

"I figured, everyone, hates him. It results in everyone hating me. Kill me if you want."

"Your soul is too valuable. I cannot."

"What do you mean? How is my soul valuable?" He looked towards her fully and had his head tilted. His eyes swirled with confusion and anger.

"I cannot explain. Rest up, we will see your strength tomorrow."

"Fine." He put his head down and fell asleep almost instantly.

Night left the medical wing and went back to Frost.

"How is he? He refuses to speak to me." Frost asked questionably.

"He's resting, tomorrow we're testing his strength." Night responded with no emotion.

"Will his wounds be properly healed by then?"

"Yes."

Frost nodded his head then spoke. " Would you like me to help in any way?"

"I would like you to keep watch in front of the cave."

"Okay." Frost went to the front of the cave and stood watch. Then Night went to one of the more elder dragons to try and figure out what to do with Valkaria.

"Emmett."

"What is it, Night?" His voice old and tired.

"Valkaria- Do you know about his parents?" She questioned him.

"I know only of his father, the Dragon King. His mother isn't the Dragon Queen."

"Do you know their whereabouts?"

"The Dragon King is in his castle. The mother is dead, killed by the King himself. He made it seem like she raped him to have a child. He tried killing Valkaria but he escaped."

"What kind is the King himself?" She asked.

"That is something I don't know. There are only rumors. Some saying he breathes lightning and summon storms. Others say that he controls all the snow and ice. It's hard, to tell the truth from fiction." Emmett responded, quite unsure.

"Thank you for the information, Emmett."

"You're welcome Night. If I can say, I know what his mother could do."

Night nodded her head as to tell him to keep speaking.

"His mother could talk to all forms of life and could grow any form of life at a thought." Emmett looked saddened while talking about her. "She could even heal any injury like it was nothing."

"Who was she to you, Emmett?"

"She was my baby sister. 25 years younger than me." His voice broke slightly as he continued speaking.

"Oh..I'm so sorry, I did not know.." Night looked down.

"It's okay... It's better to remember the good then go for revenge."

"Indeed. I'm glad you see the good in things."

"That is all I know Night, I hope it helps."

"It does indeed. Rest well, Emmett."

"You too Night." He laid down and started resting. Night went back to Valkaria to see if he was still up. He was asleep and his markings were a different color. She never saw markings change colors before.

They were light blue and darkened when he took a breath in. After watching for a time, she went to her section of the colony and laid down. She quickly fell to sleep.
