This is set in the Ottoman Empire period so 1400-1500, Romania. Hope you guys enjoy it! For this part of the story your name will be Maro, it will later turn into [Your Name] for plot and era reaons!

Hot, passionate kisses awakened your sleeping form. "Vlad," you moaned softly as your lover caressed your form. "Maro...," he whispered as his lips met yours in a need filled kiss. Your body begun to heat at your lover's touch as soft moans left your mouth. "I-I've missed you so much!" You spoke through his heated kisses, unable to process any thought. Vlad's eyes softened as he kissed your neck, sucking and nipping to leave his mark. "My sweet love..," he spoke achingly, looking into your [e/c] eyes. He softly caressed your cheek, and kissed your eyelids, whispering, "There wasn't a night or day that I haven't ached to hold you."

Your eyes brimmed themselves with tears as you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him ontop of you in a kiss in desperate need. " My light...my king, at last, you have finally returned safely to me," you whispered as you gazed into his dark eyes, kissing him softly whilst stroking through his long hair. Vlad buried his face in your neck, taking in your sweet scent as he you tighter to him. "My love...please make love to me." You whispered to him softly, caressing his handsome face. Vlad's eyes met yours with passion, and slowly begun to disrobe you...

When morning came, you awoke in the arms of your beloved for the first time in months.

A smile painted itself softly on your lips as you looked at the sleepy face of your beloved. His eyelashes long and wholesome lips pursed in some sort of dream. You traced a light finger over his high cheek bones and jaw, it was as though he were the living Adonis. His long black hair splayed on the pillow, often tickling your skin when you moved.

Nestled warm and snug against his chest, you nuzzled against his collar bone.

For some reason, you always loved placing your head on his chest. He was so warm and his heart beat had always seemed to comfort you and beckon you to sleep with it's own lullaby. A blissful sigh escaped your lips as you mentally thanked the upper beings for Vlad's safe return. If he had died...you would have lost your means of existence.

Vlad's eyes slowly opened at the soft caress of your hand. His eyes were filled with love as he greeted you with a deep kiss. "Vlad...have all these wars finally ended?" You asked softly, soothing your fingers across his brow.

"No my love, but they have grown to fear us. We will achieve victory." He spoke determinedly whilst caressing your face. Your eyes saddened at the news that the war was still continuing. You had a certain feeling that Vlad wasn't in war just for freedom. You slipped away from his arms and went to the basin filled with water to wash your face.

Your bare back faced him as he watched the water trickle from your hands.

Vlad let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Haven't we gone through this already? There must be war to gain wealth and freedom for the country." He spoke, voice laced with irritation.

"So now you want wealth? Another's country? Another's home? Another's life?" You asked in disdain, tongue no longer pulled back. "So it isn't just for freedom, but for your own greed? You could lose your life! And take other's lives meaninglessly!"

Vlad's eyes narrowed as he ripped the bed sheets of him. He stalked towards you and grabbed your wrist. "Be careful on how you address me." His voice lowered as he narrowed his steely blue eyes on you threateningly. "

You may be my wife, but you must learn your place. I am king, do remember that."

You ripped your wrist away and slapped him. "Just because your king doesn't mean you have to kill people for your greed. Those soldiers have wives and children!"

Vlad's eyes clouded themselves in rage. "Woman. Learn. Your. Place." Your eyes widened at the sight of his white clenched fist. "You...You've changed." You whispered, feeling your eyes moisten as he glared at you threateningly. "You're not the man I fell in love with." Unable to look at him you turned around and washed your tear filled face with trembling fingers.

You didn't understand. He was so tender and loving last night, by the way he held and kissed you.

Vlad growled and stormed out of the room with his robe carelessly tied around his body. He hated to fight with you. Most of all, he hated to see your tears, knowing that he was the cause for those beautiful eyes to look at him with such hurt. Cursing under his breath, he punched the stone wall of the hall way. He had just got back after such a long time and already the two of you had a fight.

He had made you cry... and he had never done that before.

When looked at him with those teary eyes...his heart tightened painfully. He loved you more than anything in the world, and seeing you cry hurt him in ways that no sword wound could compare to.

'You're not the man I fell in love with.'

The slap still stung, but nothing could calm the raging pain and sorrow in his heart.

He sighed and rubbed his face, it was better that you did not know all that he had done in his time on the battlefield.

Your fingers drifted through the soft, luscious grass. The day was bright and young, as though trying to lift your spirits. The two of you rarely fought, but this had to be the worst. He changed. You could feel it. The man who used to be poor and was in custody of the Turks, was now the ruler of Romania. Originally he fought to protect his homelands, but now... he wants the land of others, the wealth of others at the cost of innocent lives.

You hated war. All you wanted was a home filled with peace that you could spend your life with Vlad in his arms. That was what he wanted too...at least that's what he led you to believe.

'Vlad...What's happened to you?' You thought with a sigh, he never looked at you with such anger. He never spoke to you at such a tone, he never threatened you.

'You may be my wife, but you must learn your place. I am king, do remember that.'

You felt so afraid of him at that moment. Your eyes moistened once more, you tried to keep it in and focused your mind on something else.

"Maro..." Spoke Vlad, startling you. His voice was soft and tender, but you instantly wrapped your arms protectively around you. You were afraid to look at him.

He frowned at the way you tensed up, too afraid to look or speak to him. He felt sick knowing he made you fear him. Instantly he dropped on his knees and wrapped his arms around you. Burying his face at the back of your neck, he held your shaking form. "Please. My sweet, sweet love. Forgive me." He spoke softly, needing to feel you wrap your arms around him. You still did not move, but continued shaking. "Maro...please, please don't be frightened of me. My heart cannot bear it." He spoke achingly, breathing in your sweet scent.

God, his need to love you and hold you was so great that the way you feared him pierced his heart. A sob escaped your lips, you didn't know what to do. He cursed himself. He was a fool. A fool to make you cry and to leave you crying this morning. He left you fearing him. Of all the people he wanted to fear him, you were the one who he did not want to fear him.

"My love. My sweet creature, I vow that I will never harm you. I love you more than anything, please..." Your tears would not stop falling but you buried your head in his chest gripping his tunic tightly. He closed his eyes and held you tight. "I promise, never again will I give you a cause to fear me or to release those tears." He spoke, burying his face into your hair.
