Avni & Neil's Wedding

The Engagement

So today was the big day. Yes! Today was the day Avni & Neil were going to get remarried but this time it was with all the traditions & blessings of elders. The way Avni wanted it. "I really wish I could see my wifey right now" "She probably looks gorgeous". The only downfall to this wedding was that Avni wasn't allowed to stay with him until after the marriage. "Eughh!" Said Neil, upset that he still has to go a week without being with his "to-be" wife. "Tilluuuu!" "Hurry up!" "Avni will be coming soon for the engagement ceremony". Thats all it took for me to rush to the bathroom to get ready for my engagement. After a half hour I step out ready feeling like an Indian model- thanks mom!

I head downstairs after checking myself out in the mirror & confirming that I'm looking hawt! The Khanna mansion today was decorated from head to toe in flowers & lights. Completely ready to welcome their "new" daughter in law. I head over to DD & Sunehri - who both got married recently - Finally! Its not long before the entire house falls silent & all I can hear is her anklets twinkling & that floral & vanilla scent of hers that reminds me of home. I spin around, faster than my head can comprehend to be greeted with the most beautiful site of my life. The love of my life, my saviour, my angel, my everything standing at the doorway looking drop dead gorgeous!

The simple pastel colours contrasting to her milky skin was making my heart beat ever so fast. How can one person look so stunning? "Ahem" I hear bringing me back to the present. "She's your wife you know you'll have your entire lifetime to stare at her" DD says. I mentally face palm myself & give him a "shut up" look. As I walk up to her I can see she is nervous, I hold out my hand & she places her small, soft hand into  mine & I lean forward to whisper -"Wifey you are looking drop dead gorgeous", she replies with "well hubs you looking quite handsome yourself if I must say". We hold hands & walk up to the small stage ready to exchange rings, all the guests smiling at the beautiful couple. "Well you first wifey". We had personally decided that I would pick Avnis ring & she would pick mine & we would surprise each other. As she gestured to Neela Ma, Neela ma brings out a small red Cartier box with a simple yet elegant band in it. "Wow!" "Nice choice wifey". "Read the inside" she says. As I look closely, the inside of the ring is engraved with an "N" & an "A" & the date we met. My heart was overflowing with love for this beauty sitting beside me who truly amazes me every single day!

As she slips it onto my ring finger the guests clap & cheer & i can't help but smile. "My turn" I say enthusiastically. As my mother hands me a small green Tiffany box, I look at Avnis face which shows clear curiosity. I slowly open to reveal the ring & her face breaks into her million dollar smile- the one that makes me fall in love with her all over again. "Omg, Neil it's gorgeous!"  "Not more than you though" I reply with a wink & she quickly lowers her gaze.

As I slip it onto her finger & finally claiming her mine in front of the world, the guests cheer us on & clap happily. For the newly married couple.
