a month had gone by, and keith hadn't seen lance since that very, very, weird night.

he didn't tell anyone he had seen lance. he didn't want anyone to think he was crazy.

but at the same time, he had a feeling, deep in his heart, no matter how many times he had tried to shake it, that what he had seen was real.

allura had taken over the blue lion. she was good at it, but she could never quite, like, well, lance.

he thought about the time he and lance had gone to retrieve more spare scaultrite teludav lenses for coran.

flashback:

"i can't believe coran's making me go with you." lance said scornfully, over the communicator in their paladin helmets.

"well, i'm not exactly thrilled to go on a mission with YOU, either, but everyone else is busy, so deal with it." retorted keith.

he heard a suppressed groan.

"where are we going, anyway?" lance asked, trying to lighten the mood.

"like allura said, an old altean ship part storage place near the edge of the andromeda rim." keith told him. 'it hasn't been used in decafeebs, but it should have some spare teludav lenses."

"alrighty then, let's get them!" lance chuckled. he then suddenly sped forward, leaving a trail of space rocks behind him. "hasta la later, keef!"

"oh, you-" keith then turned on his mega boosters and caught up with lance. no matter how he tries to ignore lance, he just can't resist competition. oh, how he hated lance.

but at the same time, he couldnt help but smile.

he watched as lance randomly started freezing space rocks with his lion on the way back to the castle. he listened fondly at the sound of his laughter. god, he loved it when lance was happy.

"hey lance," keith said uncertainly.

"yeah, mullet?"

"you're a pretty cool guy when you're not being a dick."

keith didn't get a reply, but he knew lance was smiling. and keith couldn't help but smile back.
