Part 19

Yagari's P.O.V.

I wake up with a pounding in my head. My surroundings are dark and cold. I sit up and realize that I'm at the school gates with Cross. I look down at him and see him sprawled out on the floor.

"Hey get up." I say as I shake him.

Kaien springs up. "Ouch... my head...."

"Yeah, yours and mine both." I grumble.

"They're gone." Kaien says.

"I know."

"You know I have to report this right?" Kaien looks at me.

"Yes." I don't turn to meet his gaze.

"And you know that when I do tell, (Y/N) is going to be wanted by the H.A."

I close my eyes and take a deep breath. "Yes."

"So then you know that they're going to ask you to track them down and find them." Cross says. "They're going to make you kill Zero and throw (Y/N) prison for escaping with him."

I open my eyes and look at my friend. "Yes Cross, I know."

He hold my gaze then gets up, offering me his hand. "Come on, we'll catch a cold out here."

I parted ways with Kaien and went to my room. When I got in I went to the bathroom for some aspirin. I look into the mirror and try to accept the fact that I'm going to be hurting (Y/N) in the worst way imaginable. I pop two of the pills into my mouth then walk over to my bed and lay down on it. I close my eyes in hopes of getting some sleep, but I know that it won't come.

Karen's P.O.V.

I've been staring at the phone on my desk since I got here. Never in my life would I have thought that this would ever happen. Zero was supposed to be safe as long as he had those tablets.

The door opening takes me from my thoughts. I look up and see Yuki. "Have you seen Zero? He didn't show up today. Neither did (N/N)."

"They went out into town tonight." I lie. I smile at my daughter. "Toga and I thought it would be nice of them to catch up on things between them."

Yuki nods, buying the lie. "Okay. Do you know when they'll be back?"

"You know how these things go, one thing could lead to another and-"

"Stop right there, I don't want to know." Yuki cuts me off. "Just try to tell him to he there tomorrow. Goodnight"

"Goodnight Yuki."

The room goes silent again. My smile drops from my face and my eyes go back to looking at the phone. I could rip the bandaid off fast and just call, or I could send a letter and hope that it gets lost in the mail. I sigh and look at the time. Deciding that it's too late(when it really isn't), I get up and walk out of my office, hoping that an easy answer will come to me in my sleep.

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

I've woken up at least twice. The room is dark and the only thing keeping me warm is Zero's sleeping body next to mine. I've been replaying all of today's events in my head over and over again. This is not how I imagined things.

I always thought that I would work my way through the ranks and be as famous as Cross or Yagari. I never thought that I'd assist in an escape and become a wanted woman. Well I mean, I wanted to become a wanted woman but not this kind of wanted.

I look over at Zero who looks peacefully asleep. I wonder if he has nightmares like me too. The broken window reveals a starry blue night outside and for a moment I let myself wish I were someone else. Because after tonight, there's going to be nothing but bloodshed.

Well would you look at that, I updated this story.

I'm sorry that it took such a long time for this to happen, you all probably have bitter feelings towards me for neglecting this story. Which is why I hate to tell you this...

I'm discontinuing the story.

I've been mulling this decision over for a while and I decided to go with it.

I'm totally trolling, I'm gonna keep it going. With summer just around the corner, I'm going to have more time to dedicate to writing. Which also means I'm going to update my other stories. I can't promise that updates will be consistent, but it'll be updates.
