Two Years Later
Books piled up in boxes and the smell of wood filled my nostrils. A feeling of nostalgia hit me and I slid my hands across the walls of my room. I couldn't believe that I was finally moving out of my parents' house into my own apartment in New York.
After I got accepted into Berkeley College, I'd waited for a while before deciding to tell my parents that I wanted to move out into my own apartment where I worked to pay for the rent even though my parents had profusely insisted on paying it for me.
I was almost nineteen, I got to live on my own now.
As I picked out the last box from the bottom of the bed, my hand touched a cold metal. It was a disk envelope, one that Aaron Freeman had given me. I didn't have the time to watch it when I got back home from the hospital and I was even more tired when I was back in Vancouver. A small smile tainted my lips as I thought back to two years ago when I had fallen so hard for Mason.
Before I knew it, a tear streaked down my face.
With shaky hands, I slid the disk into my laptop and watched as Aaron's face came into view. He was hiding behind a wall as he whispered, "Right now, I'm filming Riley playing Hide-and-Seek with Liam. And Spencer. Who is shirtless." He made a gagging sound which had me laughing through my tears.
The video followed me as Spence said, "He's hiding in a closet." Then he followed me as I unknowingly went into Spence's room only to come out a few minutes later. The video me walked into Sawyer's room and I laughed when I saw my own love-stricken face as I drooled over Sawyer's half naked body. Aaron giggled behind the video camera and he muttered under his breath, "Sawyer's body? Really? That's nasty!" He made a disgusted sound followed by snickering.
As video progressed, it went on to a footage of Mason and I sleeping on the couch. It was the night when Mason was so pissed drunk and I had sat next to him only to wake up snuggled up next to him.
The video came closer and closer to the both of us and I noticed how Mason had his arms tight around me and my hands were around his waist as I snuggled deeper into his chest.
"That's so cute." Aaron whispered excitedly.
Another tear streaked down my face and I immediately shut the laptop before sliding it into my bag. I left the Freemans for a reason and I didn't want to be reminded of the reason that I decided to stay in the first place.
After saying good-bye to my parents who sent me off at the airport, I looked at the sign that said, New York - 12 10 arrived
Throughout the flight, I fidgeted in my seat. I couldn't believe it. I was finally on my own, though I didn't want to leave my parents but they knew that this was going to happen sooner or later. I was just when that was the question. I tossed and turned the whole time during my flight because I was nervous and excited at the same time.
When we landed, I looked around at the airport and saw different types of people walking around, businessmen, tourists and even exchange students. My smile grew wider and I took my luggage with me as I went off towards the exit of the airport to get a cab.
"Taxi!" I yelled the same time another voice yelled. I turned around to see a handsome young man looking at me in surprise. He frowned when he took in my features but slowly, his face turned from confused to euphoria. I took in his features and could feel the exact same expression take on my face. He had glossy brown hair and a rugged look. Dimples appeared at the corner of his mouth as a smile slowly stretched onto his face and his eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
"Riley."
My heart stopped at the way he said my name. It was full of familiarity, wonder and amazement. I could feel a smile tugging at the corner of my lips and the next thing I knew, I crashed my body into his and clung to him as I tried to inhale his familiar scent.
