Much like Matt, Lilly was an animal lover. Lilly loved every animal not just the cute furry animals. Lilly did not like people who only liked animals because they're cute. When Lilly's class had to pick an animal to study and write an essay on, Meg dared Lilly to do the Proboscis Monkey which isn't the cutest animal. Meg didn't believe that Lilly really liked any animal. But Lilly did it anyway since one she loves any animal and two because she would never turn down a dare.

But there is one animal that Lilly absolutely hated. This animal is the one the only, the spider. Lilly thought they were gross and big and just plain creepy. Lilly was scared to get poisoned by a spider. Although there has never been a poisonous spider in the state of New Hampshire.

But this hatred ended one day. One day Lilly was being babysat by her grandma when Mrs.Gardener had to work late. Her grandma was taking a nap while Lilly was listening to music on her iPod. She was listening to her favorite song, Cups by Anna Kendrick doing the hand game at the same time. She was also having a sandwich at the dining room table.

Sam had been playing outside with Spike the Bulldog, Matt's dog. Sam was looking sadly into the dining room window. Lilly knew she wasn't supposed to let Sam in after he had been playing outside in case a bug of some sort clung to Sam. Lilly let Sam in since he had never had a bug on him. When Sam walked in his left side brushed the white tablecloth of the dining room table. Just as Lilly's mouth wrapped around the sandwich she caught a glimpse of a bug. And not just any bug, a spider!

Lilly raised her hand to crush the little bug when suddenly she heard a little voice. She lifted her hand and kneeled on the ground so her head was next to the spider. The spider was tiny and black. The spider also had dimples and purple eyes and eyebrows that lifted it spoke. Lilly whispered to the spider "Would you please repeat yourself". Lilly felt stupid talking to a spider because she knew spiders didn't talk. "OK well I said 'please don't crush me'". Lilly jumped and said "You, you talked. But you're a spider and spiders do not talk." "Sure we do. Everything can talk if you just believe. Or are you humans too obsessed with FaceTube and YouTime!" Replied the spider. "I'm sorry Sir Spider." Lilly giggled. Then the spider said "Forgive me for my outburst. I'm just stressed because my mom works too much and my dad got crushed and I feel alone. Now let me introduce myself. I am Steven Webington. And you are?" "Well Steven I am Lilly Ann Gardener. My mom works too and my dad is overseas. How funny I read a book about two friends whose last names were Gardener and Pennington. Not Webington but close enough."

Then Steven asked Lilly to be his friend. Lilly said yes and from that day forward they were the best of friends.
