Training began at noon the next day. I ran to the tree house wondering what the training would be like. As usual, was already there waiting for me and tapping his feet.
I climbed the ladder and said,"Boo!"
Harris didn't even jump, he just looked at me and smiled. He laughed at my effort and I rolled my eyes.
"Ready for training?" he asked.
"I guess..." I replied
"Okay then! Let me show you around." he smiled excitedly. Then he reached for one of the planks on the floor and knocked on it five light times and one hard rap.
The floor began to spread apart, revealing a long, dark tube that seemed to lead to nowhere.
Harris grabbed my hand and smiled at me,"On three. One, two, three!"
I jumped with him and we sled off, hearing the planks go back into place as we went down the tube. We both landed on our feet in the middle of a huge room.
It had a high roof and was shaped like a dome. People from 6 years of age to 16 years of age were walking from one of the tunnels on the outsides of the dome to another. My mouth fell open and I was stunned until Harris spoke.
"This is the MISFIT secret area. It's for kids like us who have yet to control their powers. They too are preparing for the end." Harris explained, still holding my hand.
I looked around and stayed close to Harris. He smiled again at me,"I've been wanting to show you this for forever, but I wanted to wait until you got your powers so you didn't feel left out."
"Wow, I can't believe this. So are you a main leader or something?" I asked,
"As a matter a fact, I am. And it just so happens you are the lucky gal who gets a tour with the founder."
I laughed at his comment, "Oh really? Because I don't see any other gals lining up to get a tour. Is there suppost to be a line?" I looked around acting innocent.
"Well the line starts here!" I laughed and he poked my stomach.
"Okay, enough goofing around. We better get going. Tia's waiting for us." Harris said.
"Who's Tia?" I asked.
"Oh you'll see." he smirked and led me down one of the many tunnels.
