Trash

Have you ever stopped to realize that there is no out?

That you never get rid of trash, you merely relocate it.

Imagine a really large house.

You've got a bag of trash and you need somewhere to put it so you shove it in a backroom. Well a week passes, and another, and another. Meanwhile you've been adding to your trash pile.

Sure it will take awhile, but eventually you're going to run out of room.

Then you're going to start filling your hallway, and pretty soon your whole damn house will be packed with trash.

This analogy for our earth makes me panic.

What are landfills but spare areas for our trash? What about when we run out of places to for us to store it? What then?

Is this the world we want to leave behind for future generations?

I don't know about you but I want my future children to be able to run through grass carefree, without the fear of stepping on a used heroine needle or condom. I want my child to be able to swim without coming across plastic bottles and toxins in the water.

I think of what we've done to our planet and it honestly scares me, and quite frankly you should be scared too. I know that sometimes it doesn't feel real because sometimes it's so far from home, but take a moment to google the Pacific garbage patch or the amount of tires that are dropped into the ocean every year.

Please remember my words.

The earth is our home, let's take care of it.
