"What are you guys really doing here", great gran asked after we sat down. Lizzy looked at me and I knew that I was the one that had to explain it all.
So, I started from the very beginning. After an hour or two of explaining what happened last night and today I took a deep breath and waited. I looked up at great gran, her face expressionless. She stood up and paced back and forth, thinking. Finally, she stopped pacing and looked at us both.
"Come with me I need to show you something", she sighed.
She left the room, leaving us with no choice but to follow her out of curiosity. We walked up the stairs all the way to the attic door. I have never been in the attic; my family telling me and Matthew that there was nothing important in there. To leave it alone and never to go in there. Now my great gran was pulling out a key and unlocking the door. I was overwhelmed with curiosity on whats going to be on the other side of the door.
When I walked in last my whole face changed. I saw lots of wonderful antiques and pictures. I saw trunks and books all covered in dust. Great gran went to the right side of the room where there was a picture hanging covered with a sheet.
"You deserve to know", great gran said pulling the covering said showing the picture. I gasped. In the picture was a beautiful woman with long blonde hair, pale skin. Next beside her was a gorgeous man that looked alot like me. I went closer to the picture and saw my mom's signature on the bottom left, along with the man's name in t the photo. Elizabeth and Nicolas, 1379.
"That's your father", great gran said coming to stand next to me.
"He looks......."
"Alot like you", great gran said softly, finishing my sentence.
"That's the high councilor for the vampires in the Kingdom of Glelimma", Lizzy said, shock in her voice.
"Correct", great gran said looking pleased with Lizzy.
"Hold on a second", I said, confused.
"Isn't that the Kingdom that's coming tonight?", fear lacing through my voice.
"Oh yes", Lizzy was grinning now, finding this situation amusing. To me it wasn't. I looked at great gran to see if there was any trace of her joking but her face was full of sadness.
"Your mother loved your father very much and the same with him", she said quietly looking at the picture, lost in thought.
"He never wanted to leave after she died but councilor Jon thought it would be best if he did. Your father never wanted to leave you and Matthew but he had to", great gran said.
"He loved you all so much. He is actually from Glelimma but was on vacation here and thats how your mother meet him. He was very popular but not mean or a snob. That's what your mother liked about him the most. He was nice and friendly. They fell in love and well you can figure out the rest", great gran looked at me with sad eyes.
"But why would councilor Jon prolong her life to have us"?
"Well that was tricky", she said.
"But the councilor finally gave in to let your mother at least have two kids. That's what she wanted before she died. To have two kids and get married", great gran smiled alittle. Me and Lizzy were sitting down on an old trunk while she was talking.
"I can't go then tonight", I said standing up, walking towards the window.
"Are you kidding me of course you are going", Lizzy said.
"Not only that but you have to go, no if and's or but's", great gran said. Before I could say anything the bell rang to tell the people that it's time for the meeting. Great gran pulled us out and down the stairs to the front door.
"I promise you it will be fine", she told me, touching my cheek.
"Just take deep breaths and be confident and you will do just great", she kissed me on the forehead.
"Come on we have to go now", Lizzy said yanking me down the driveway.
"Love you great gran", I yelled over my shoulder.
"Bye Lady Rosaleen", Lizzy yelled.
"Goodbye girls", great gran called out.
Then we were out of veiw, running towards the last place I didn't want to be right now.
