Tim and Jay were walking ; silence, occasionally to be broken by twigs breaking, footsteps, and the wind. The silence was enjoyable until it was broken. "Where could he be?" Jay was talking about Alex we were looking for him... once again.
"I don't know." I scoffed.
Jay shivered, "Last I saw him he was at the lake." I said, recalling chasing Alex at the lake... and falling in.
Jay grunted "then we'll go to the lake to look for him and start from there," said Jay. So we began to the lake; silently.

Once we got to the lake we searched around for some time but eventually, I stopped for a smoke break. "You know Tim you should stop smoking." Jay said, deciding to go on a break as well.
"Yeah. I know, but there's no reason to stop. We're looking for a crazy person in the woods how much worse can someone's life get" Tim rolled his eyes.
Jay chuckled "True that." he gazed into the lake.
I stared at Jay, watching him skip rocks made me feel at ease. I
"Alright just hurry," Jay said in a patient voice. Something about Jay's voice made me feel comforted like I was still in college I felt at rest which I hadn't felt in years. My thoughts had been snapped by an odd silence.
"Jay. . . are you there" I, said as I looked up to see no one there. Jay was gone. I got up frantically and looked around I saw the empty forest then looked up in the sky then the lake only to see Jay astray in the water.
"Jay are you okay" I shouted.
