Rose's POV
"Maybe I can spare your life if you answer me, time is ticking," I fired my gun towards the ceiling.
The both of them stared into my eyes. I could feel their stares burn through the back of my skull. Then, I remembered what was written in the note: beware of their actions.
My heart started to beat rapidly when Eugene started speaking. I could feel fear engulf my confidence.
"The people that died after consuming our contaminated drugs were running child organ trafficking websites and secret agencies. What did you think we had to do? Let them take the lives of young children for money?! They're kidnapping, slaughtering and selling organs of innocent children for money, Darnella!
We had to kill them all. I'm guessing your agency didn't tell you that crucial piece of information, huh? There! I f*cking said it, now you can go ahead and kill me, for money. But let me warn you, once you pull that trigger, all of my men are going to come after you and they're going to find you if ever decide to stay low," he explained.
"Okay, let's make a deal," Griffin proposed.
"W-what kind of d-deal?" I stuttered.
"You let us go and you can work for our family business and get a higher wage."
"WHAT?! Grayson, no!" Eugene yelled.
"Dude, she's great at what she's doing. Remember what Leo said when he came to check up on us yesterday?" Griffin responded.
"Yeah? They did a background check on her."
"Not that, she's not getting money because her agency doesn't assign her jobs anymore. An addition to that is the fact that her agency doesn't even give their assassins accurate information anymore."
"...fine," Eugene eventually agreed.
"So, what do you say?" Eugene asked.
"C'mon, Rose, we know you want to..."Griffin wiggled his eyebrows while Eugene rolled his eyes playfully.
"Imagine working with us and living in our house and having endless cash."
"Guys, it's not about the cash. If I'm going to kill people, I'd want to make sure that they're guilty first," I replied.
"C'mon Rose, let us go," Eugene pleaded.
"Fine, c'mon Griffin; stand up."
"It's Grayson."
I untied Grayson and went over untie Eugene who then, asked me to call him Ethan instead. Somehow their cousin, Leonardo, was already standing outside of the gates as if he was on cue to pick them up.
"Alright, Rose. We'll discuss this later tonight? Right now, just focus on what to tell them when the cleaners head to the cells in an hour," Ethan instructed.
"H-hang on. C-can I have a h-hug before you go?" I asked.
He smirked and pulled me into his arms engulfing me in a warm and comforting embrace.
"Of course," he said while holding me up in his arms.
He gave me a quick peck on my forehead before he sprinted away to the emergency exit with Grayson and Leonardo.
I head to the main office and walked over to my desk. I wanted checked the CCTV footage but there wasn't any footage of me releasing the Dolans. I sat on my chair, confused of where the footage may have been disposed of.
Then, it clicked. They deleted it. I mentally facepalm-ed myself for how dumb I realised I was. I thought about what they said to me in the cells.
"...her agency doesn't even give their assassins accurate information anymore."
Fiery anger began to build inside of me. I wasn't paid enough or I wasn't assigned any missions. Somehow, I trusted Ethan and Grayson so much that I stormed to my bosses' office to find out if what they said were true.
I finally arrived at his door and I slammed it open. I stomped to his desk and slammed my left hand on his table. He didn't look shocked or bafled. He just continue to look into my eyes in an attempt to find out why I had an outburst. There was silence.
I decided to break the silence by asking, "Is it true?"
"What was...true? Look, Rose, you can't just storm into my office, slam your hand on my desk and ask me such a vague question with no conversation leading up to it."
"Do you know why the Dolans killed all those people? Do you know the real reason why?" I shrieked.
He closed his eyes and said, "Yes. The manger made all the bosses not tell everything about the selected assassins missions. I would not be able to feed my kids if the manager found out. I'm sure you would understand.
Unfortunately we had to choose you as our assassin since we have not assigned you any missions for the past two months. I guess you could say that you were lucky to even be assigned to this huge mission.
Initially, we wanted to assign Crystal to the mission but she's on vacation so we were basically forced to assign you. I'm going to be honest with you; I don't know how you got third place in the annual assassins ceremony.
Crystal would have tracked and killed them within a week! Look at you, it's been a month and you haven't even gotten the chance to kill them. You're an absolute disappointment."
My jaw dropped to the floor when I heard him say those hurtful words. How could he even say that? Crystal is my biggest competitor, she would always get the top of everything I participated in and rub it in my face when she gets first place.
I didn't believe that Crystal would get first place just like that. Victoria is an awesome assassin and Crystal always ruined Tori's chances of getting first. Crystal's aim is always off and my friends and I have a reason to believe that she would sleep with the boss to get a good portfolio result and get first all the time.
"Have you ever thought about how I would survive? You didn't assign me to any missions for the last two months and what did you think I had lived on? Frankly speaking, you sound absolutely selfish and disgusting.
I saw you as a father figure to me and turns out I'm just like a burden to you. Since you were always 'forced' to work with me, let me help you ease your work, I quit."
With that, I stormed out and slammed the door shut. I went over to my desk to retrieve my things and head back home as soon as possible.
I didn't have that many things to clear since I usually work at home so I just grabbed a box from under my desk and put in my stuff that I left the night before. While doing so, my colleagues noticed my anger from me slamming everything I have into my box and they headed to my direction.
"Rose, why are you packing? Are you leaving us?" Victoria questioned.
I flashed her a pained smile and resumed my packing.
"Rose-" Ryder said before I cut him off.
"I'll explain, not right now though. Would you guys mind talking over a cup of coffee this Saturday?" I proposed.
They all nodded and rubbed my back to reassure me that I'll be fine. I finally grab the last item on my desk. It was a picture of the boss and myself on my first day at the shooting arena. I slowly placed the picture back on the desk and walked out of the office. I walked over to the reception counter and bid goodbye to the receptionist--forever.
I brisk-walked to my bike and placed the box into the compartment. I put my helmet on and drove off to the highway.
