I was never one for people. I preferred animals, or books. There wasn't anything wrong with me. I just preferred it that way.

I'm Nevaeh Nicole Young. I grew up in a large family, with two older siblings and six younger. My older siblings are Austin and Aryn. They're twins, and double trouble. They were born a whole month and a half or so before me. We're all nineteen. Austin and Aryn were born on the 28 of August, and I was born on the 8 of October, 2013.

My first younger sibling is my sister, Hazel Julianne. She's a troublemaker, she loves boys, and soon she's gonna be loving an infant. She's pregnant. She is eighteen. She was born on the 3 of September, 2014.

My second and third younger are boy girl twins, Noelle Elizabeth and Michael Liam. They're sixteen this year, and they both love sports. They were born on the 4 of July, 2016.

My fourth younger sibling is a girl who we decided to call Isabelle Marie. Apparently, she was Austin and Aryn's aunt, but she died when she was seven. She is thirteen, and all about attitude. 16 of September, 2019.

My fifth and sixth younger siblings are a set of boy twins, we call them double trouble. They're Tyler and Tyson, the two Ty's. They're six, and all I can say is they don't have that nickname for no reason. March 13, 2025.

My mother, Jasmine, is currently pregnant with my seventh younger sibling. They decided to have as many babies as they were given, and hey, each to their own.

We have several... deceased siblings. Bailey was Daddy's first baby. She was born twelve weeks early in Ellsworth, Maine, on October 15, 2012, and she died on December 4 of 2013. That was a mess. Mom miscarried Julia Ginger on the 13 of July, 2015. Caleb Ernest was stillborn on January 29, 2022, and Oliver Brendon was born on April 3, 2028, and died four days later in the NICU.

Today, there was an accident. We don't have the details, but it happened on Water Street. It was a two car accident, and so far we've heard quite a few sirens. We live on East Pine Street, which is perpendicular to Water Street.

"Ambulance?" Tyson asks, looking out the window. I pull him away and shake my head.

"We'll find out soon enough, Kid," I warn him, and he shrugs and goes to annoy Izzy.

"How bad would you say it is?" Mom walks up behind me, eating a piece of watermelon. I shrug.

"Looks bad. They have a hearse." My mother shudders. "Where's dad?"

She looks toward the stairs. "Hiding. It reminds him of..." She trailed off, but I knew.

Before he met my mother, my father was married to Austin and Aryn's mother, Lizzy. She was also Bailey's mother. Right after Bailey's first birthday, she was driving to the grocery store at around seven in the morning. A drunk driver was on the wrong side of the road and hit her head on, sending her through the windshield and killing her almost instantly, breaking her neck and back. It wasn't pretty, and dad got into heroin a bit after that. He's been clean over eighteen years, cuz when he came home, that's how Hazel was conceived.

"Gotcha." I look over at Austin and Aryn. Neither of them knew Lizzy, so we've heard. They got to meet her once after they were born, and that was two weeks before she died, but they both looked haunted. I knew they were thinking of the mother they'd never meet.

Hazel came down the stairs, munching on a sleeve of crackers. "Morning sickness?" I asked, and she nodded weakly. She hadnt been keeping much down over the last month or so, but her first trimester was over soon, so hopefully it would quit then.

"Jared needs to get his ass over here and help me through this," she spat with whatever might she had left. Jared was her baby's father, and he was at work, trying to get enough for a separate house from our family's apartment complex. Us older kids each had our own apartments, which were large and two floors each. Enough space to have a few kids each.

I shrugged to my sister. "Tough cookies. How about I make you a smoothie." She nodded thankfully and we headed to the kitchen.
