My first rhyming poem! I want to thank iwritewithsoul2 and everyone who convinced me to write a rhyming poem. Please bare with me, because it's my firsst rhyming one outised of school
If only I'd put down the gun,
Told myself my life has just begun,
Then maybe I wouldn't be watching her,
Sob and scream herself to sleep; a woman I once called mother.
If only I'd just walked away,
Not let myself drift astray,
Then maybe my sister wouldn't have found,
My bloody corpse on the ground.
If only I'd just thought it through,
Convinced myself I'd get over you,
Then maybe I'd have found a man who loved me,
For all the things you were too blind to see.
If only I'd just waited,
Given the pain in my heart a chance to have faded,
Then maybe I'd be at the beach,
As I watched my beautiful children try to reach,
The sun.
Oh, If only I'd put down that gun.
