Stan's POV
As soon as Stan felt like he was out of Kayla's sight he slowed down. He needed some time to think about what had just happened. He wasn't having second thoughts about driving Kayla home, he was happy about that--it would give him a chance to get to know her. He had took off jogging because he didn't want her to change her mind...not that he had gave her much of a choice. He hoped that he hadn't been too pushy...
When he had first seen Kayla standing there looking lost, he had thought he was imagining things. He had actually stood there a few minutes before calling out to her; he couldn't believe what he was seeing. He was stunned, she had looked like a goddess coming out of the waves of the Gulf. Aphrodite? No, that was a different goddess.. Damn she was beautiful! He had thought that she was cute with her glasses, but without them she was absolutely breathtaking, and her body was perfection. It was hard to believe that she was only sixteen or seventeen with a body like hers.
He remembers thinking that she looked like a young Janet Jackson, but now he thought she was even hotter than Janet. Maybe Beyonce? Nah, Kayla had a beauty all her own, it wasn't fair to compare her to anyone else. She had beautiful, evenly-toned skin that glowed in the evening sun. It was mocha-colored and reminded him of hot cocoa, and it looked as if it would feel soft to the touch. Her hair was beautiful when it was loose and wet, making loopy, spiralled curls that flopped around her face and hung down to her shoulders...and it was so thick, he mused wondering what it felt like. Her breasts were even more magnificent than he had imagined, and up close he could see the dark peaks that jutted through the wet fabric of her swimsuit.
When he was finally able to speak, he had almost called out her name, but he quickly remembered that he wasn't supposed to know her. She looked as if she were looking for something, so he decided to ask, "Did you lose something?" instead.
He had noticed Kayla checking him out too, and he had prayed that his body wouldn't betray him as her eyes wandered down the length of his body. He wondered what she had thought. Did she find him attractive? Maybe he would find out later. He had to stop thinking about Kayla, they would have the whole night to spend together and get to know one another. He smiled at the thought.
Right now he had to figure out what he was going to tell his friends. In a way stumbling upon Kayla had been lucky for him because he had been trying to get away from that bitch June. She was still trying to get in his pants even after she had almost ruined his friendship with Matt. Except this time she wasn't drunk and wasn't being quite as obvious as she had been at the party a few weeks ago. It didn't matter, he still wasn't interested. He had took off walking to get away from her--she was such a slut. He also needed a break from being the macho jock for a while. Maybe he could just be himself with Kayla, that would be nice for a change.
His thoughts were interrupted as he came upon his group of friends. He quickly spotted Matt and June and headed over to talk to them, deciding not to mention Kayla's name to avoid any gossip.
"Dude, where ya' been, we're getting ready to leave," Matt told him as he walked up.
"I ran into a friend that I'm gonna ride back with," I said choosing my words carefully, "I kind of like this beach and want to hang around a while."
"Betcha it's some skank," June said trying to mask the disappointment in her voice and make it sound like she was teasing.
I looked pointedly at June, raising my brows as if to say, "No, that would be you," but managed to hold my tongue.
"Is it a chick?" Matt asked with interest unaware of what was going on with June and I, "Do I know her?"
I thought about Kayla looking like a woman, not like an immature slut trying to play at being a woman like June, and then I thought about Matt...did he really know Kayla?
"No, to both questions," I answered within moments proud that I had managed to answer truthfully.
Now Matt looked disappointed but June looked kind of relieved.
"Oh well, if that's how you want it," said Matt now bored with the subject. "Call me when you get back home."
I quickly started packing my stuff; I was beginning to feel excited about spending time alone with Kayla. I could feel June watching me in a weird way, but at this point I didn't care. I looked at her and flashed her a smile. She smiled back...probably thinking it meant something it didn't. I mentally rolled my eyes but decided to let her think what she wanted. I just wanted to get back to Kayla.
I got my stuff together and struggled to shove it all in my duffel bag. "See you guys in a couple of days," I said as I practically skipped back to where I knew Kayla was waiting for me.
