"You don't like Dylan anymore?" Kaylee asked puzzled. "no no. I do. Its just that I think i like Adam too..." i replied. She became even more confused. "ADAM?!" she shouted. "SHHH! I dont know." "Jade..." Suddenly Dylan showed up and wrapped his arms around my waist. "So what are we talking about ladies?" "Nothing." i repied quicker than i should have. He gave me a wierd look and than grabbed my hand. "Lets go babe. we have to get to class" he said, confused by my jumpiness. "bye Kaylee" The two of us chimed together. "Bye love birds" Kaylee giggled as we walked away hand in hand.
That day at school was probably one of the worst. I tripped over someones backpack in front of their locker, failed my science test, and dumped my lunch all over my new shirt. Then as i was on my way back to class after calling my mom for a new shirt, Adam showed up.
My heart was beating quickly and i started to get nervous. 'He's your best friend Jade,' i thought to myself, 'stop acting dumb.'
"H-h-hi Adam..." i said quietly and started to walk away. He grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me back. He then spun me around to look at him. "Jadie, what is up with you lately? everytime i try to talk to you you start acting weird and walk away. We are supposed to be best friends, remember?" "Of course Adam, its just..." i trail off and he looks at me concerned. "Jadie, what's wrong?" "I'm fine. just alot going threw my head." i reply. 'JUST TELL HIM! STOP HIDING IT!' i think to myself. but i can't tell him. I don't want to screw up our friendship. Before i could even open my mouth to say anything else, Adam pulls me into a tight hug. It felt perfect just standing there hugging him.
Next thing i know, he pulls away. "I love you Jadie. please feel better. and remember, i'll always be your best friend. no matter what happens." Ya, just my best friend, that's the problem... "I love you too Adam," i say with a smile. Then it happened. i let my thoughts get the best of me and i kissed him. right there in the middle of the school hallway, i kissed my best friend. And he kissed me back. I felt the sparks instantly. It was like a million fireworks going off in my head. I never got this feeling when i kissed Dylan... But the worst was about to come. As soon as i looked up i saw Dylan standing at the end of the hallway. He had seen me kiss Adam. I didn't even know what to say if he came over here, and i was terrified.
We made eye contact and i looked away. Dylan than stormed over to us. "Dylan--" i started to say but before i could finish he slapped me so hard across the face and i fell to the floor in pain. Adam sat next to me and started making sure I was okay. Dylan then kicked me and screamed, "you slut! we are over!" That set Adam off. He got up and punched Dylan square in the face. A full on fist fight broke out between the two of them and i just sat there crying.
Eventually the principal showed up and broke up the fight. They both got suspended for two days and i was sent to the nurse. i felt terrible. It was all my fault. I just had to go and kiss Adam. Why did i do that? Ugh. Nothings going to ever be the same. But maybe i don't want it to be the same... i stopped myself right there. I couldn't be thinking about this right now. I just caused my best friend and now-ex-boyfriend to get suspended. Adam probably hates me now.
The nurse decided to send me home because i was crying so much and i was really hurt. She gave me ice for my cheek which was starting to bruise and told me that it would make the swelling go down. When my mom saw me she was going crazy. She kept asking who did it and why Dylan didn't stop them... When i told her it was Dylan and that he broke up with me she realized why i was crying so much. But she still didn't know the whole story, and i wasn't going to tell her. When we got home i went up to my room and layed down. I fell asleep the minute my head hit the pillow.
