You lay in bed after another very strange dream. Your bloodstained suit is caked to your body. It has been ruined. What a waste of your money. Then again, maybe not. You got one good night out of it. But either way, you still have no purpose to what you are doing. No aim, no objective, no quest. Just a dude running around the country causing trouble. But that doesn’t matter, you don’t need a goal. You could just be living a normal life for all anyone cares. But then again, I don’t think you could do that either. It’s all up to you. So what do you do?
Well, I can’t be seen in this mess. I go and get another suit.
You walk out the hotel and down the street to the Dynasty Tapestries. As you walk, the late morning sun is pleasing and refreshing. The bright blue sky shines down through the brick wall buildings. It is very calm, as people make their way to where they need to be. And as you make your way to where you want to be. You enter the shop. The clerk is not pleased to see you. He exclaims in a gasp. “Sacre bleu! What did you do to my suit. It was a very fine work!”
“I was mugged…”
“For what? You are a lowly lower class beggar. You are the one that is supposed to do the mugging.”
“They tried to take my money. I was barely able to escape.”
“Then what do you want from me. I am not the city guard.”
“I need a new suit. This one no longer… suits me.”
“Why would you, a beggar, want another suit?”
“Look, I’m not actually a beggar.”
“Then why do you look like a beggar?”
“I get mugged a lot. They like to damage my clothes.”
“That’s your problem. You need to better defend yourself or something along that nature.”
“I just need a suit, and a job would be nice too.”
“Fine, my cheapest suit is now 500 coins.”
How much coin do I have now?
Let’s see. 1000 minus 110 for the doctor minus 50 for the hotel and minus 450 for the last suit leaves you with 390. So, not enough for a new suit.
I see. “Okay, I shall be back.” I walk out and look for anyone hiring.
You wander the streets looking for help wanted signs. After searching for an hour or so, these are your options. Doctor Eric is still hiring, the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker are also looking for a new employee.
I head to the candlestick maker.
You head over to the East side of town, where the party was, and approach a quaint little two story shop. A candle sign hangs above the door, swaying slightly in the mild breeze. You enter inside and find that it has a similar layout to that of Doctor Eric’s shop. It has a front room with a desk and a back room which has a taller ceiling and a staircase. You find that the candlestick maker is in the back heating up some wax.
“Excuse me, Sir.” I say politely to the candlestick maker.
“Yes?” He turns. He has short brown hair, brown eyes, and a fairly average appearance.
“My name is… Nathaniel Darkriver.” I reach out my hand.
He wipes his hand on his dusty work apron and shakes. “Hello Nathaniel. I’m Reuben Learsi, but you can just call me Reuben. How can I help you today?”
