Some limped, some crawled on all fours with a swiftness that seemed somewhat paranormal, they hid behind tall pieces of debris from skyscrapers, they watched, grimacing at the young man near the care package. It was a very silent and quick movement that the young man did not see, he was knocked back by an eyeless denizen with a gaping mouth and jagged long teeth and then two others gripped him by his arms. The man struggled to break free from their grips, frantically gasping and yelling for someone to rescue him, the denizens made gross noises that could have been laughter from his attempts to call for help.
He was dragged behind a forest of broken buildings where the rest of the denizen group awaited with their leader. A pile of bones lay behind them as the man was held down, the leader looked down at him with its dark eyes, and smiled a jagged toothy grin as it's hand forcefully pierced into his chest. The man screamed as fresh blood overflowed down the grievous wound. The leader mercilessly dug deeper, past red meaty flesh and bones to claim his prize, the heart. It stared him in the eyes, a dead yet menacing stare that had the same similarities as looking into two black holes. The other denizens watched in awe as their leader tortured this survivor, they smiled and growled in a monstrous tone, hungrily eyeing the poor young soul, their mouths drooled like wild dogs. The Eyeless One stood by in the crowd, disturbingly enough it looked like it was watching intently, empty sockets glaring at the man and his leader.
This, Eyeless One, is an "upper -class" in the Hierarchy of denizens, it speaks coherently and has the ability to walk despite it's mangled state, has sharp senses due to its handicap, and has a disturbing presence. It can track prey and attack silently; it has never missed a kill. Many survivors believe it still has it's advanced human thought process due to its skill in tracking and hunting victims, it's intelligence is distressing and it's appearance haunting.
